The range

Three placements, one dashboard

Reyee access points come in three shapes and the choice is mostly about the building. Ceiling APs cover open floor area — offices, halls, classrooms, retail. Wall-plate APs replace a data outlet in a room and add LAN ports, which is the standard answer for hotels and student accommodation where each room needs coverage that does not have to pass through walls. Outdoor APs are IP68 rated for yards, car parks and building exteriors.

All of them self-organise and are managed together from Ruijie Cloud — there is no controller to buy and no licence per access point.

Choosing access points for an Australian site

6 GHz in Australia is narrower than the US

The ACMA class licence opens 5925–6425 MHz — the lower 500 MHz — not the full 5925–7125 MHz the United States allows. Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 APs like the RG-RAP73Pro work here and the 6 GHz radio is fully usable, but plan for roughly three 160 MHz channels rather than the channel count quoted in international datasheets.

Wi-Fi 7 needs a multi-gig switch port

A BE3600 or BE14000 AP moves more than a gigabit, so a 1 G port throttles it. Pair with a 2.5 G NBS3300 or use the SFP+ port on the RAP73Pro.

In hotels, put the AP in the room

One AP per room at low power beats corridor APs shouting through walls: better throughput, far less co-channel interference, and the wall-plate models add the LAN ports the TV and phone need from the same cable run.

Client count vs throughput

The enterprise RG-AP820-L(V2) supports 1,024 associations — four times a typical Reyee ceiling AP — which matters in halls and lecture theatres where the constraint is how many devices associate, not peak speed.

Outdoor means IP68 and a plan for power

All outdoor RAP models are IP68; feed them from a PoE+ port, and if the run is long, put an outdoor IP65 switch at the pole.

Ruijie access points — questions

Do Ruijie access points need a controller?
No. Reyee access points self-organise and are managed free from Ruijie Cloud. Ruijie does sell hardware controllers such as the RG-WS6512-L for large campus deployments that require on-premises control, but the Reyee range does not need one.
Which Ruijie access point supports 6 GHz?
The RG-RAP73Pro is tri-band Wi-Fi 7 with a 6 GHz radio. In Australia the ACMA class licence covers 5925–6425 MHz, the lower 500 MHz of the band, so plan channels for that range rather than the wider allocation used in the United States.
What is the difference between RG-RAP62-Wall and RAP62-Wall-Lite?
Both use the same AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 radio. The RAP62-Wall is a rectangular plate with 4 Gigabit LAN ports and 10 W of PoE output; the Wall-Lite is a smaller 86×86 mm square plate with 2 ports and no PoE output.
How many access points can one Ruijie site have?
In self-organising mode a Reyee AP can manage a network of up to 300 devices. Larger deployments are managed through Ruijie Cloud, which has no practical device limit per account.
Can Ruijie access points be powered over Ethernet?
Yes. All models accept 802.3af or 802.3at PoE; the Wi-Fi 7 models take 802.3at or 802.3bt. The wall-plate models are PoE-only with no DC input, so one Cat6 run completes the install.
Are Ruijie outdoor access points suitable for the Australian climate?
The outdoor RAP range is IP68 rated and specified to +50 °C or above depending on model, so yes for typical Australian conditions. Check the operating temperature on the specific model page for extreme inland sites.
