Why a bridge

When running cable is not an option

A wireless bridge replaces a cable run you cannot make. Two units aim at each other across clear line of sight and present a transparent Ethernet link at both ends — a shed at the back of a property, a building across a car park, a gate camera on the far side of a driveway.

The EST series is point-to-point and most models ship pre-paired, so they link on power-up with no configuration. AirMetro is point-to-multipoint: one base station with a sector antenna feeding many remote CPEs, which is what you want when several sites need feeding from one head end rather than a separate link to each.

Buying guide

Choosing a wireless bridge

Line of sight is not negotiable

5 GHz will not pass through a hill, a building or dense wet foliage. If you cannot see one end from the other, the link will not work no matter which model you buy — that is the first thing to check, before range.

Buy the pre-paired pair for a single link

The EST100-E, EST310 V2 and EST350G ship as two units already paired: mount, aim, power up. Single units like the EST330F-P are for when you need an odd number, or a spare.

Fast Ethernet vs Gigabit matters at the far end

EST100-E and EST310 V2 have 100 Mbps ports, which caps the link regardless of radio rate. If you are carrying several camera streams, use the EST350G with gigabit ports.

PoE out saves a second cable

The EST330F-P has two PoE output ports, so the camera at the far end of the link runs off the bridge with no power at that location.

Point-to-multipoint changes the maths

Four separate point-to-point links means eight radios and four aiming jobs. One AirMetro 550G-B base station with a sector antenna feeds up to 32 CPEs from a single mast — cheaper and far easier to extend later.

Ruijie wireless bridges — questions

How far will a Ruijie wireless bridge reach?
The EST range covers 500 m (EST100-E) up to 5 km (EST350G) point to point. AirMetro CPEs are rated to 15 km to a base station. All figures assume clear line of sight; obstructions reduce them sharply.
Do Ruijie bridges come pre-paired?
The EST100-E, EST310 V2 and EST350G ship as pre-paired pairs that link on power-up with no configuration. The EST330F-P and the AirMetro units are sold individually.
What is the difference between EST and AirMetro?
EST is point-to-point — one link between two places. AirMetro is point-to-multipoint — one base station with a sector antenna serving many remote CPEs, for when several sites need feeding from one head end.
Do I need line of sight?
Yes. These are 5 GHz links and they need clear line of sight between the two antennas. Buildings, terrain and dense wet vegetation will block or severely degrade the link.
Can a bridge power a camera at the far end?
The RG-EST330F-P has two PoE output ports for exactly this — the camera at the remote end runs from the bridge, so no mains is needed there.
Are these legal to use in Australia?
Yes, when configured for Australia. Set the site country correctly in Ruijie Cloud so ACMA channel and EIRP limits are applied. We can pre-configure this before it ships if you ask.
