Why managed

When a smart switch is no longer enough

A smart switch gives you port isolation and a cloud dashboard. A managed switch gives you VLANs with routing between them, ACLs, link aggregation, spanning tree and jumbo frames — the things you need once a site has more than one network segment, or once inter-VLAN traffic should not be hairpinning through a firewall.

The NBS range also brings 10G SFP+ uplinks, which is the practical difference on a busy site. Twenty-four gigabit access ports can saturate a 1 G uplink; four 10G ports give 40 Gbps to the core. Multi-gig models add 2.5 G access ports for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points that exceed a gigabit.

How to choose a Ruijie managed switch

L2, L2+ or L3?

L2 (NBS3100) switches within VLANs only. L2+ (NBS3200/3300) adds static routing between VLANs — enough for most single-site networks. L3 (NBS5200) adds dynamic routing and is what you want when the switch is the core, or when there are enough segments that static routes become unmanageable.

Multi-gig is about the access points, not the desktops

Nothing on a desk needs more than a gigabit. A Wi-Fi 7 access point does. If you are deploying RG-RAP72 or RG-RAP73Pro units, the NBS3300 multi-gig models keep the AP from being throttled by its own switch port.

740 W is the number that decides one switch or two

The RG-NBS5200-48GT4XS-UP carries 48 PoE ports with eight of them 802.3bt — enough for a full floor of ordinary devices plus a handful of high-draw PTZ cameras or Wi-Fi 7 APs on the same chassis.

Redundant power

Only the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-PD takes dual hot-swap PSU modules (600 W or 1000 W, ordered separately). If the site cannot tolerate a PSU failure, that is the model — the rest are single-supply.

Buy the optics with the switch

We stock matched Ruijie SFP and SFP+ transceivers; mismatched third-party optics are the most common reason an uplink will not come up.

Ruijie managed switches — questions

What is the difference between NBS3100, NBS3200 and NBS5200?
NBS3100 is Layer 2 with 1G SFP uplinks. NBS3200 is Layer 2+ with 10G SFP+ uplinks and static inter-VLAN routing. NBS5200 is full Layer 3 with dynamic routing, for use as a core or distribution switch.
Do Ruijie managed switches support VLANs?
Yes — 802.1Q VLANs on all managed models, with inter-VLAN routing on L2+ and L3 models. Configuration is available through Ruijie Cloud, the web interface, CLI or SNMP.
Which Ruijie switch has the highest PoE budget?
The RG-NBS5200-48GT4XS-UP at 740 W across 48 ports, with eight of those ports supporting 802.3bt PoE++ for high-draw devices.
Can I stack Ruijie switches?
The enterprise RG-CS83 range supports VSU stacking, presenting multiple chassis as one logical switch. The Reyee NBS range does not stack; it is designed to be managed collectively through Ruijie Cloud instead.
Do these switches need a licence or controller?
