UVC-AI-Theta-ProLens50
Ubiquiti UniFi Protect AI Theta Pro Long-Distance Lens — 4K (8MP) 53° Lens for Detail Capture
What the UVC-AI-Theta-ProLens50 Is
The Ubiquiti UVC-AI-Theta-ProLens50 is a Professional long-distance lens for the UniFi Protect AI Theta system. It records 4K video at 8MP (3840 x 2160, 16:9) at up to 24 FPS from an 8MP 1/1.8" sensor through a fixed-focal-length lens with a 53° horizontal, 31° vertical and 60° diagonal field of view. It is a ⌀36.6 x 58.9 mm aluminium alloy and polycarbonate unit weighing 60 g, drawing 2.5W at 5V DC through the Theta proprietary connection, and is specified for indoor use only. A Standard Flush Mount is included. It requires an AI Theta Hub, sold separately.
Professional Overview
The Theta system separates lens from processing, and this is the narrow lens in the Professional range. At 53° horizontal it is the tightest of the three, and the trade is the usual one in optics: less scene, more detail per metre. Ubiquiti positions it for business-critical detail — retail point of sale is the example it gives, where reading a transaction matters more than seeing the whole floor.
Image quality comes from an 8MP 1/1.8" sensor producing 4K at 3840 x 2160 in 16:9. The 1/1.8" format is the larger sensor size in Ubiquiti's camera range, and it is what underpins the enhanced low-light performance and dynamic range Ubiquiti specifies for the Professional lenses. Maximum frame rate is 24 FPS, slightly below the 30 FPS of the fixed cameras — worth knowing if fast motion is the subject.
The unit itself is tiny: ⌀36.6 x 58.9 mm and 60 g, in aluminium alloy and polycarbonate. That size is the whole point of the architecture — the lens goes where a camera body would be intrusive, and the hub does the work elsewhere. A Standard Flush Mount for flat ceiling or wall mounting is included, an angle mount is optional, and it is compatible with the AI Theta Pro mount range.
Power is 5V DC at 0.5A over the Theta proprietary connection from the hub, drawing a maximum of 2.5W — the lens has no network port and no PoE of its own. Note the environmental limit: indoor only, 0 to 40°C at 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity. Certifications are FCC, IC and CE. An AI Theta Hub is required. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this lens be used on its own?
No. It connects to a UniFi Protect AI Theta Hub, which provides the processing, network connection and power. The hub is sold separately.
What is the field of view?
53° horizontal, 31° vertical and 60° diagonal — the narrowest of the Professional Theta lenses.
What resolution does it record?
4K — 8MP at 3840 x 2160 in 16:9, up to 24 FPS, from an 8MP 1/1.8" sensor.
Can it be used outdoors?
No. Ubiquiti specifies it as indoor only, 0 to 40°C at 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity.
Which lens should I choose?
ProLens50 at 53° for detail at distance, ProLens110 at 110.4° for large busy spaces, and ProLens360 at 180° for panoramic coverage.
How is it powered?
5V DC at 0.5A over the Theta proprietary connection from the hub, drawing a maximum of 2.5W.
What mount is included?
A Standard Flush Mount for flat ceiling or wall mounting. An angle mount is optional, and it works with the AI Theta Pro mount range.
Does it support licence plate recognition?
Ubiquiti specifies plate recognition on the hub with the Long-Distance and Wide-Angle lenses, of which this is the Long-Distance option.

The UVC-AI-Theta-ProLens50 is powered over Ethernet (Theta proprietary, up to 2.5W), so a single cable carries both data and power. Budget that draw on the switch — PoE budget is shared across all powered ports. See the UniFi switch range for a switch with enough headroom.
This is a lens head, not a standalone camera — it requires an AI Theta hub.
What the UVC-AI-Theta-ProLens50 needs to record
Every UniFi Protect camera records to a UniFi Protect console — a Network Video Recorder, or a Cloud Gateway or Dream Machine that runs Protect. The camera does not record to the cloud and there is no subscription: footage stays on the drive you supply.
If you are still choosing a recorder, our UniFi Protect NVR comparison covers the range, and the storage sizing guide works out how much disk you need for the number of cameras and retention you want. The full shopping list covers the drives, switch and cabling that go with it, and putting the feed on a TV covers live wall displays.
