Why a PTZ?

One camera that follows the action

A PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera moves to where you point it — sweep across a yard, follow a person, or zoom in on a number plate — so a single unit covers ground that would otherwise need several fixed cameras. You can drive it manually from the app, set patrol presets, or let it track motion automatically. This Hikvision range focuses on compact 4 MP mini-PTZ domes with up to 4× optical zoom; some add built-in Wi-Fi for cable-free placement and others use ColorVu for full-colour night vision.

How to choose a PTZ camera

Zoom: these compact models offer up to 4× optical zoom — ideal for keeping a wide area in view and zooming to identify; for very long-range zoom, ask us about Hikvision’s larger speed-dome series.

Wi-Fi vs wired: choose a Wi-Fi model (/W) for cable-free placement, or a wired PoE model for the most reliable connection.

ColorVu: ColorVu PTZ models give full-colour footage at night.

Auto-tracking & presets: set patrol points or let the camera follow detected motion automatically.

Recorder: pair with a Hikvision NVR to record and control the PTZ alongside your other cameras.

FAQ

Hikvision PTZ cameras — questions

What is a PTZ camera?
PTZ stands for pan-tilt-zoom. It’s a camera you can move left/right and up/down and zoom in, either manually from the app, via saved patrol presets, or automatically by following detected motion — letting one camera cover a wide area.
Can a Hikvision PTZ track movement automatically?
Yes. These cameras support patrol presets and auto-tracking, so they can sweep set points or follow a detected person or vehicle without manual input.
What zoom do these PTZ cameras have?
This range is built around compact 4 MP models with up to 4× optical zoom — great for general wide-area coverage. For long-range zoom (e.g. 25×+ speed domes), contact us and we’ll source the right Hikvision model.
Are there Wi-Fi PTZ options?
Yes — several models include built-in Wi-Fi (denoted /W) so you can place them without running a data cable, ideal for homes and retrofits.
Do PTZ cameras work with a Hikvision NVR?
Yes. Hikvision PTZ cameras record to and can be controlled from a Hikvision NVR alongside your fixed cameras.
Are these genuine Australian stock?
Yes. ARC IP Networks is an authorised Australian Hikvision reseller; all cameras are genuine local stock with a 3-year Australian manufacturer warranty.
