Features

  • Enterprise Campus aggregation switch — the spine partner for the ECS-24-PoE and ECS-48-PoE access switches and for any 25G/100G UniFi fabric.
  • (48) 25G SFP28 ports (25G / 10G auto-negotiate) — connect 48 access switches at full 25 Gbps, or fan out to 10G SFP+ access tiers without media converters.
  • (6) 100G QSFP28 uplinks (100G / 40G) — link to a higher-tier core or run parallel 100G spines for east-west datacentre-style fabrics.
  • 3.6 Tbps switching capacity, 1.8 Tbps non-blocking throughput, 2.4 Bpps forwarding rate — datacentre-class dataplane in a 1U Enterprise switch.
  • Native Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation (MC-LAG) — pair two ECS-Aggregation switches into a single logical LAG endpoint, so downstream access switches can dual-home for active/active failover without spanning-tree complexity.
  • Layer 3 capable: 256 IPv4 static routes, 1,000 VLANs, 128,000-entry MAC address table, 24 MB packet buffer, 512 IPv4 and 512 MAC interfaces.
  • Carrier-grade redundancy: (2) hot-swappable AC/DC 550W PSUs and (5) hot-swappable fan modules — one more fan than the access-tier ECS switches.
  • Etherlighting™ per-port multi-colour LEDs surface link state, speed and fault conditions at a glance.
  • 1.3" front-panel touchscreen LCM for status, port telemetry and diagnostics — no laptop at the rack required.

Professional Overview

The UniFi ECS-Aggregation is Ubiquiti's high-density Layer 3 aggregation switch — the spine partner for the ECS-24-PoE and ECS-48-PoE Enterprise Campus access switches, and the natural backbone for any large UniFi deployment that needs to terminate dozens of 25G access trunks and connect to a 100G core. The port configuration is purpose-built for the role: (48) 25G SFP28 ports plus (6) 100G QSFP28 uplinks. The 25G ports auto-negotiate down to 10G, so a fleet of existing SFP+ access switches can be re-homed onto the new spine without breaking cabling, and the QSFP28 uplinks accept 100G or 40G optics for upstream flexibility.

The dataplane is genuinely datacentre-class: 3.6 Tbps switching capacity, 1.8 Tbps non-blocking throughput and a 2.4 Bpps (billion packets per second) forwarding rate. The control plane is sized to match — a 128,000-entry MAC address table, 24 MB packet buffer, 512 IPv4 and 512 MAC interfaces, 1,000 VLANs and 256 IPv4 static routes — comfortably enough to act as both the access aggregation switch and the inter-VLAN routing edge for a multi-tenant building or large campus.

The headline redundancy feature is Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation (MC-LAG). Two ECS-Aggregation switches can be paired into a single logical LAG endpoint, so downstream access switches dual-home with one LAG that spans both spines — active/active forwarding, no spanning-tree blocking, transparent failover if either spine goes down. For an environment that has historically required Cisco vPC or Arista MLAG to achieve this, MC-LAG on UniFi at this price point is a meaningful change. Chassis redundancy is carrier-grade in its own right: (2) hot-swappable AC/DC 550W PSUs and (5) hot-swappable fan modules (one more than the ECS-PoE access switches).

Build quality is broadcast-grade: SGCC steel enclosure and mount, four-post 19" rack support for 650–1,000 mm post depths, ESD immunity of ±12 kV air / ±8 kV contact, an operating envelope of -5 to 40 °C with 10–95% non-condensing humidity, and 340W maximum consumption with 1,160 BTU/hr heat dissipation. A 1.3" front-panel touchscreen LCM gives port-level status, telemetry and link health without a laptop, and Etherlighting™ surfaces per-port speed and fault state from across the rack. Managed end-to-end through UniFi Network 8.5.6 or later — no per-port licensing, no separate aggregation-tier controller. Certifications cover CE, FCC, IC and ANATEL (01327-25-08356). Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.

Ubiquiti ECS-Aggregation: 1.8 Tbps of 25G and 100G aggregation

The Switch Enterprise Campus Aggregation is the top of the UniFi switching stack. It provides 48 (25G/10G) 25G SFP28 ports plus 6 (100G/40G) 100G QSFP28 ports, delivering 1.8 Tbps of non-blocking throughput (3.6 Tbps switching capacity) at 2.4 Bpps.

This is a Layer 3 Etherlighting aggregation switch with MC-LAG support, built to sit above access switches such as the ECS-48-PoE and ECS-24-PoE rather than to connect endpoints. It has no PoE — every port is fibre.

The 128,000 MAC table and 1,000 VLANs are what make it an aggregation device rather than a large access switch — it is sized to hold the entire campus forwarding table. MC-LAG lets two of them present as one logical switch so an access switch can dual-home without spanning tree.

Two practical warnings. First, at 19.5") deep this is a genuinely deep chassis — Ubiquiti specifies four-post racks with post depths from 650 to 1,000 mm. A short comms cabinet will not take it.

Second, 1160 BTU/hr is substantial for 1U. Plan the rack's airflow and cooling accordingly; it also carries five hot-swappable fans alongside the two hot-swap power modules.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ECS-Aggregation for?

It is the aggregation layer of the UniFi Enterprise Campus range — 48 (25G/10G) 25G SFP28 and 6 (100G/40G) 100G QSFP28 ports providing 1.8 Tbps of non-blocking throughput to connect access switches, not endpoints.

Does the ECS-Aggregation have PoE?

No. It is an all-fibre aggregation switch with no PoE output. PoE comes from access switches such as the ECS-24-PoE or ECS-48-PoE.

Does it have 100 Gigabit ports?

Yes — 6 (100G/40G) 100G QSFP28 ports, alongside 48 (25G/10G) 25G SFP28 ports.

What is MC-LAG and why does it matter?

Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation lets two switches present as a single logical switch, so an access switch can connect to both for redundancy without relying on spanning tree. It is the standard way to build a resilient core.

What throughput does it provide?

1.8 Tbps non-blocking, 3.6 Tbps switching capacity, at a forwarding rate of 2.4 Bpps.

What rack depth does the ECS-Aggregation need?

It is 442.4 x 43.7 x 496 mm (17.4 x 1.7 x 19.5") — a full-depth 1U chassis. Ubiquiti specifies four-post racks with post depths from 650 to 1,000 mm. Check your cabinet before ordering.

How much heat does it produce?

1160 BTU/hr at up to 340W. It has five hot-swappable fans and two hot-swappable 550W power modules power modules.

Does it have redundant power?

Yes — (2) Hot-swappable AC/DC 550W power modules, plus MC-LAG for chassis-level redundancy.

What UniFi version does it require?

UniFi Network 8.5.6 and later.
