How to choose

Count the cameras

One camera per door, plus the driveway, side passages and backyard. Most homes need 4 to 6; buy a recorder with spare channels so you can add more.

Turrets or bullets

Turrets suit eaves and doorways (no glare at night). Bullets suit driveways and gates (longer range, visible deterrent).

4K or 5MP

4K (8MP) gives the most detail for faces and plates. 5MP is the value choice. A 4K camera needs an NVR that records 8MP.

Colour night vision

Colour after dark makes clothing and car colours identifiable instead of black-and-white infrared.

Wired PoE or Wi-Fi

Wired PoE is the most reliable: one cable per camera, no power points needed. Choose Wi-Fi only where cables cannot be run.

Storage, not subscriptions

Recording goes to a hard drive in the NVR. Add a surveillance drive sized for the days of footage you want to keep.

Most houses need 4 to 6: front door, back door, driveway, side passage and backyard. A larger property or one with sheds may need 8. Choose an NVR with spare channels so you can add cameras later.

A wired PoE system runs one network cable to each camera that carries both power and video, so it is the most reliable and needs no power points at the cameras. Wireless (Wi-Fi) cameras need no data cables but still need power, and depend on your Wi-Fi signal.

Our systems do not. Footage records to a hard drive in the NVR (or to microSD cards on Wi-Fi and 4G cameras), and the phone app is free.

No. You add a surveillance hard drive sized for how many days of footage you want to keep. Ask us and we can recommend one.

Yes, if you can run network cables to each camera: each camera plugs into the NVR with a single cable. Many customers use an installer for roof and wall cabling.
