Where to Buy Netgear in Australia: Authorised Reseller and Warranty

How to buy genuine Netgear in Australia with the full manufacturer's warranty: authorised resellers, Netgear's warranty types, registration and claims.

Buy Netgear in Australia from an authorised Netgear reseller. Netgear's own warranty terms say it "only warrants registered products that have been purchased from an authorized reseller", and that products sold by websites or dealers who are not authorised "do not carry a warranty from NETGEAR". ARC IP Networks is an authorised Netgear reseller and supplies genuine Netgear from Australian stock with a GST tax invoice, which is your proof of purchase for the manufacturer's warranty.

Quick pick: home or small office → GS108AU or GS308EP-100AUS (8 PoE+ ports); cameras and access points → GS316EPP-100AUS (231W PoE); AV over IP → GSM4230P-100AJS; 5G on the move → MH7150-100APS. Register your product with Netgear after purchase (within 90 days for business products).

Netgear warranty in Australia: the three business warranty types

Netgear's Enterprise Limited Warranty sets out three warranty types for its business products:

Warranty typeDuration (Netgear's wording)Product category
3 Year3 years from date of purchaseEssentials range of switches and access points
Limited Lifetime5 years from Last Sale DateAll enterprise products excluding the Essentials range and fully managed switches
LifetimeFor as long as the original purchaser owns the productFully managed switches

Source: Netgear Enterprise Limited Warranty (Australia). Netgear says to check the product page for which category and warranty type applies; each ARC IP Networks product page shows the warranty Netgear gives for that model.

Netgear's home networking (consumer) products have a separate Home Networking Limited Warranty. Netgear states that "standard warranty length for new products is set by the region of original purchase, not the region of use", so a Netgear product bought here, from Australian stock, carries the Australian terms.

Why an authorised Netgear reseller matters

Netgear is direct about this in its warranty terms for Australia:

“Unfortunately, there are some websites and dealers who claim to be authorized NETGEAR resellers but are not. Products sold on these websites or from these dealers do not carry a warranty from NETGEAR.”

Netgear goes on to say that buying from an unauthorised website or dealer is a risk "because these products may be counterfeit, used, defective, or may not be designed for use in your country", and asks buyers to "only purchase NETGEAR products from an authorized reseller". Its Reseller Policy adds that authorised resellers must sell products in their original packaging, must not alter serial numbers or labels, and must not change or misrepresent the manufacturer's warranty.

For an office, school or AV venue, that matters more than the up-front price. A switch with no Netgear warranty means a failed core switch is your problem alone, and a fully managed switch with Netgear's lifetime warranty is a very different asset from one with no Netgear warranty at all.

Register your Netgear product (it is a warranty condition)

Both of Netgear's warranties say "You must register your product for it to be covered by this warranty." For business products, Netgear asks you to register within 90 days of purchase, on its MyNETGEAR portal, the Insight cloud portal or the NETGEAR Insight app. Home networking products register on MyNETGEAR.

Keep the ARC IP Networks tax invoice with the serial number. Netgear's warranty is valid for the original purchaser only, is not transferable, and Netgear says to "retain your proof of purchase to establish the start and end dates of the warranty".

How a Netgear warranty claim works

Per Netgear's warranty terms, the product must be registered and within its warranty period. You then:

  1. Obtain an RMA number from Netgear support (business products: log a case online or call your local Netgear enterprise support team).
  2. Return the failed product, at your shipping cost, to the address Netgear technical support provides.
  3. Provide proof of the original date of purchase.

Netgear then replaces the product with the same or a functionally equivalent product, and returns the replacement at Netgear's cost. A replacement is warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or 30 days, whichever is longer.

For Netgear business hardware bought after 13 April 2026, Netgear lists Fast RMA as the included service for the Essentials and limited lifetime categories, and Advance Ground replacement for the first 3 years on lifetime managed switches. Sprint, Overdrive and Fast Lane service packs can be bought to upgrade RMA service; Netgear notes that advance and next-business-day RMA are not available in every country. For home networking products, Netgear lists its Australian warranty support line as 1300 361 254.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Netgear's Home Networking warranty includes the Australian Consumer Law statement in full:

“Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.”

Netgear states that its warranty "is in addition to any statutory rights in Australia". The Enterprise warranty says the same in general terms: nothing in it excludes or limits statutory rights or non-excludable statutory warranties.
