Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6?
Ruijie's Wi-Fi 7 APs (RG-RAP72PRO, RG-RAP72 and RG-RAP72-WALL) add Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which lets a device use the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands at the same time for less lag, 4K-QAM for faster data rates, preamble puncturing to work around interference, and MRU for better efficiency with many devices. They also have a 2.5 Gbps port, so the uplink is not capped at gigabit. Ruijie rates the RG-RAP72 at 140 m² of coverage at 5 GHz against 110 m² for traditional Wi-Fi 6 devices in its lab comparison.
Wi-Fi 6 is still a sound choice where the budget is tight or the internet service is the bottleneck: the RG-RAP62 is Ruijie's small, thin AX1800 ceiling AP, and the RG-RAP2266 doubles the 5 GHz rate (AX3000) and supports up to 512 clients. Our Wi-Fi 7 router guide explains the Wi-Fi 7 features in more detail.
Wall-plate APs for hotels, motels and aged care
In a hotel room, motel unit or aged-care suite, a ceiling AP in the corridor has to push Wi-Fi through walls and bathroom tiles. A wall-plate AP goes in the room itself, mounted over a standard wall junction box, and doubles as the network outlet for the TV or IP phone.
- RG-RAP62-WALL: Wi-Fi 6 AX3000, 4 x gigabit LAN ports with LAN4 providing PoE out (10 W budget from an 802.3at source) for an IP phone, and 23.5 mm thin. Ruijie lists 86 mm, EU and US junction-box compatibility.
- RG-RAP72-WALL: the Wi-Fi 7 BE3600 version, with a 2.5 Gbps uplink, 4 x GE ports, PoE out, a 24 mm body and an anti-theft lock, useful in serviced apartments and student accommodation.
- RG-RAP62-WALL-LITE: the same AX3000 Wi-Fi with only 24.8 mm exposed on the wall and 2 ports, for rooms that need good Wi-Fi more than wired outlets.
- RG-RAP1260: Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 with 5 gigabit ports, for offices and rooms with several wired devices.
Wall plates take power over PoE from the switch in the comms cupboard; see what PoE switch you need and Reyee managed switches for a matching switch.

Outdoor access points
Outdoor APs are sealed against dust and rain and built for wider temperature ranges than indoor models (0 to 40°C).
- RG-RAP62-OD: a slim Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 AP for indoor or outdoor use, IP65, –30 to +65°C, wall or pole mount, with 4 kV lightning and 15 kV ESD protection. Ruijie pitches it for retail fronts and villas: think beer gardens, cafe courtyards and alfresco areas.
- RG-RAP6262: Ruijie's "UFO" Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 AP, IP68, with a gigabit SFP port that Ruijie says supports up to 20 km over single-mode fibre. Ruijie quotes a coverage radius of 100 m at 2.4 GHz and 300 m at 5 GHz from field tests.
- RG-RAP6262-G: the AX1800 UFO model, IP68, 2 x GE ports, 6 kV lightning protection and the same quoted coverage radius.
- RG-RAP6260-G: AX1800, IP68, a gigabit SFP port (20 km over single-mode fibre), an FBAR filter against mobile base station interference, and the widest range at –40 to +65°C.
To get a network to an outdoor AP across a yard or paddock, pair it with a Ruijie wireless bridge; for links between buildings in general, see Wi-Fi Between Buildings in Australia: How to Get Internet to a Shed, Granny Flat or Across the Farm.

Free cloud management, mesh and guest Wi-Fi
Every AP here is managed in Ruijie Cloud and the Ruijie Reyee App with lifetime free cloud management: no controller to buy and no per-AP licence. Features Ruijie lists across the range include:
- Reyee Mesh (listed for models including the RG-RAP72, RG-RAP62, RG-RAP2266, RG-RAP62-OD and the outdoor UFO models): add an AP where there is no cable and it meshes wirelessly with its neighbours.
- AI roaming and co-channel roaming (802.11k/v on the RG-RAP2266, k/v/r on the RG-RAP1260) so phones move between APs smoothly.
- WIO (Wi-Fi Intelligent Optimisation): one-click channel and power optimisation.
- Standalone AP portal: a guest login page for cafes, motels and clinics, run from Ruijie Cloud.
- AI heatmap to plan where APs go before you drill.
For small businesses that handle personal information, keep guest Wi-Fi on its own network, separate from staff devices and records: a sensible step under the Privacy Act and the ACSC Essential Eight. See Ruijie Cloud explained for the details.

Common questions
Straight answers from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.
For most offices the RG-RAP72 is the pick: Wi-Fi 7 BE3600, a 2.5 Gbps port and up to 511 clients. For a large open-plan office, the RG-RAP72PRO has a 5011 Mbps maximum wireless rate. On a tight budget, the Wi-Fi 6 RG-RAP62 is small and thin.
The RG-RAP62-OD (IP65, AX3000, wall or pole) suits courtyards and retail fronts. For large open areas, the RG-RAP6262 is IP68 with a fibre SFP port, and the RG-RAP6260-G is rated from –40 to +65°C.
A wall-plate access point mounts over a standard wall junction box inside the room. Ruijie's RG-RAP62-Wall gives Wi-Fi 6 plus 4 gigabit LAN ports for a TV or phone, one with PoE out, which is why wall plates are popular in hotels, motels and aged care.
Put a wall-plate AP in each room, such as the RG-RAP62-WALL (Wi-Fi 6) or RG-RAP72-WALL (Wi-Fi 7), and ceiling APs such as the RG-RAP2266 in corridors and function rooms. Ruijie Cloud adds a guest login portal.
No. Reyee APs are managed in Ruijie Cloud and the Ruijie Reyee App with lifetime free cloud management, with no controller hardware or per-AP licence.
Over PoE from a switch. The ceiling APs and the RG-RAP6262 and RG-RAP6262-G can also use a 12 V DC adapter; the wall plates, the RG-RAP62-OD and the RG-RAP6260-G are PoE-only.
Yes, on models where Ruijie lists Reyee Mesh, including the RG-RAP72, RG-RAP62, RG-RAP2266, RG-RAP62-OD, RG-RAP6262 and RG-RAP6260-G. An AP placed where there is no cable can then mesh wirelessly with the others.
