Yealink Cordless DECT Phones in Australia: W70B, W73P, W76P, W56H and the Rugged W57R and W59R Compared

Which Yealink cordless phone suits an office, a clinic, a warehouse or a shop, how many handsets fit on one base, and what the bundles include.

For a cordless business phone in Australia, start with the Yealink W73P (W70B base plus W73H handset) for offices and the W76P (W70B base plus a colour-screen handset with up to 30 hours of talk time) for front-of-house and clinics. One W70B base supports up to 10 handsets and 20 simultaneous calls, and the rugged W57R and W59R handsets register to the same base for warehouses and outdoor sites.

How Yealink DECT phones work

A Yealink DECT system has two parts: a base station that plugs into your network and registers to your VoIP provider or PBX like any other SIP phone, and cordless handsets that talk to the base over DECT, the same technology as a home cordless phone but with business features, encryption and far better audio. DECT runs on its own frequency band, so it does not share airtime with your Wi-Fi and does not drop calls when the office network is busy.

Yealink sells the base and handset as a P bundle (base + one handset) and the handset alone as an H model. You buy one bundle to start, then add handsets up to the base's limit.

Which DECT phone for which site?

Small office or shop

One W73P covers a typical small office. Add W73H handsets as staff grow, up to ten on the base.

Medical, dental and aged care

Reception answers on a desk phone while nurses and practice staff carry W76P or W56H handsets. Because every handset can hold two calls, a nurse can park one call and take another without returning to the desk.

Warehouse, workshop and hospitality

Use the W57R (IP54) or W59R (IP67) rugged handsets. They survive drops, dust and splashes and vibrate as well as ring, so they are heard over forklifts and kitchen noise.

Large sites

A single W70B base covers an office floor. For a multi-floor building, a large warehouse or a campus, Yealink's multi-cell DECT systems (W75, W80, W90) let the same handsets roam between bases without dropping the call. Tell us the floor plan and we will size it.

Range, battery and audio

Yealink quotes indoor range in the tens of metres through typical office walls and considerably more in open space; the exact figure depends on the building. If one base cannot reach every corner, a DECT repeater or a second base is the fix. Current handsets are rated for a full day or more of talk time and more than two weeks on standby, and charge in their cradle. Audio is HD voice on every model, with noise reduction on the W76P and W73P.

The Yealink W70B single-cell DECT base supports up to 10 registered handsets or DECT headsets and up to 20 simultaneous calls. It works with the W73H, W78H, W56H, W57R and W59R handsets and the CP930W and CP935W DECT conference phones.

Both bundles use the W70B base. The W73P ships with the slim W73H colour handset for general office use. The W76P ships with a 2.4-inch colour-screen handset rated for up to 30 hours talk time and 400 hours standby, with noise reduction, which suits reception and healthcare.

Yes. The W57R (IP54) and W59R (IP67) rugged handsets register to the same W70B base as the W73H and W56H office handsets, so a warehouse team and an office team can share one system.

No. DECT uses its own dedicated frequency band, separate from Wi-Fi, so cordless calls are not affected by a busy wireless network. Only the base station needs a wired network connection.

Range depends on the building. Yealink rates its DECT systems for tens of metres indoors through typical office walls and considerably more in open space. For larger sites a DECT repeater or a multi-cell system (W75, W80 or W90) extends coverage with seamless roaming.

Yes. The W70B base registers to hosted VoIP providers, 3CX, FreePBX and other SIP platforms exactly like a Yealink desk phone, and most providers auto-provision it from its MAC address.
