UXG-Enterprise Rack Deployment

Features

  • Enterprise independent gateway — purpose-built to sit at the WAN edge of a large UniFi deployment, terminating internet, MPLS, fixed-wireless and 25G transit links and routing traffic into the access fabric.
  • Multi-WAN with up to 5 WAN ports — the default WAN pair is (1) 25G SFP28 + (1) 2.5 GbE RJ45, and any of the remaining ports can be promoted to WAN for load-balancing or active/standby failover.
  • Wire-side: (2) 25G SFP28, (2) 10G SFP+, and (2) 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports — same chassis can fan-out to a 25G aggregation switch or hand directly to a 10G access tier without media converters.
  • 12.5 Gbps IDS/IPS routing throughput — Suricata-based engine inspects every packet at multi-gigabit wire speed, with 95,000+ signatures via CyberSecure Enterprise.
  • Capacity for 1,000,000 concurrent sessions and 71,000 new sessions per second — sized for SaaS-heavy and IoT-heavy networks where session counts explode rather than just bandwidth.
  • 10,000 concurrent SSL/TLS inspection sessions — full deep-packet inspection on encrypted traffic for matched-signature alerts.
  • VPN throughput: 1.2 Gbps WireGuard, 980 Mbps WireGuard (Site-to-Site), 1.2 Gbps Identity Endpoint One-Click VPN, 1.1 Gbps Site Magic, 580 Mbps IPsec, 280 Mbps L2TP, 210 Mbps OpenVPN.
  • Carrier-grade redundancy: (2) hot-swappable 150W CRPS (Common Redundant Power Supply standard) modules for true active/active power, plus Shadow Mode (VRRP) gateway failover to a paired UXG-Enterprise.
  • 18-core Arm v8.2 processor at 2 GHz with 16 GB RAM — substantial compute headroom for IDS/IPS, DPI, traffic management and SD-WAN session tracking.
  • 1.3" front-panel touchscreen LCM for status, WAN health, IDS/IPS event counters and session telemetry — no laptop at the rack.
  • Aluminium CNC and SGCC steel enclosure; 442.4 × 43.7 × 325 mm 1U full-depth chassis, 6.5 kg.
  • 82W max consumption, 280 BTU/hr heat dissipation — single 1U rack-PDU outlet pair covers the chassis with redundancy.
  • Ethernet + Bluetooth management plane; (1) factory reset button.
  • Operating range 0–40 °C ambient, 5–95% non-condensing humidity.
  • Managed end-to-end through UniFi Network 8.3.32+ alongside switches, access points, NVRs and Access controllers — no per-feature licensing for routing, VPN or DPI.
  • Certifications: CE, FCC, IC.

Professional Overview

The UniFi UXG-Enterprise is Ubiquiti's flagship independent gateway — a 1U rack appliance designed to sit at the WAN edge of a large UniFi deployment, terminating internet, MPLS, fixed-wireless and high-speed transit links and routing traffic into the access fabric. Unlike the integrated UDM Pro / Cloud Gateway Max line that bundles router, switch, AP and NVR into a single chassis, the UXG-Enterprise is gateway-only — purpose-built for sites where the routing tier is treated as its own concern, and where the access switching, WiFi and recording layers are scaled independently.

The port story is intentionally asymmetric and modern. The default WAN configuration is (1) 25G SFP28 + (1) 2.5 GbE RJ45 — the 25G port future-proofs against next-generation business transit and dark fibre links, while the 2.5 GbE port handles the typical NBN / cable / fixed wireless secondary or backup uplink. Any of the remaining ports can be promoted to WAN, taking the device up to 5 concurrent WAN links for active/active load balancing or active/standby failover. Wire-side ports are (2) 25G SFP28, (2) 10G SFP+ and (2) 2.5 GbE RJ45 — enough flexibility to hand off to a 25G aggregation switch (such as the ECS-Aggregation), to a 10G access tier, or directly to bandwidth-sensitive endpoints like an ENVR-Core recorder.

Performance numbers are sized for genuine enterprise loads: 12.5 Gbps IDS/IPS routing throughput on a Suricata-based engine with 95,000+ signatures via CyberSecure Enterprise, 1,000,000 concurrent sessions, 71,000 new sessions per second, and 10,000 concurrent SSL/TLS inspection sessions for encrypted-traffic DPI. VPN performance covers the full UniFi suite: 1.2 Gbps WireGuard client / 980 Mbps Site-to-Site, 1.2 Gbps Identity Endpoint One-Click VPN, 1.1 Gbps Site Magic SD-WAN, 580 Mbps IPsec, 280 Mbps L2TP and 210 Mbps OpenVPN. Compute is an 18-core ARM v8.2 chip at 2 GHz with 16 GB of RAM — substantial headroom for IDS, DPI, NAT, traffic management and SD-WAN tracking running concurrently.

Redundancy is engineered for permanent service: (2) hot-swappable 150W CRPS (Common Redundant Power Supply) modules deliver active/active power from 100–240V AC, and Shadow Mode (VRRP) gateway failover allows pairing two UXG-Enterprise units for chassis-level redundancy — if the primary loses health, the shadow takes the floating gateway IP without operator intervention. The aluminium CNC and SGCC steel chassis weighs 6.5 kg with a 1.3" front-panel touchscreen LCM exposing WAN status, IDS/IPS counters and session telemetry. Maximum consumption is 82W (280 BTU/hr heat dissipation), so a single 1U PDU outlet pair feeds the device with full failover. Operating envelope is 0–40 °C ambient and 5–95% non-condensing humidity. Configuration runs end-to-end through UniFi Network 8.3.32 or later alongside switches, access points, NVRs and Access controllers — no per-feature licensing for routing, VPN or DPI. Certifications cover CE, FCC and IC. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
