Ubiquiti UX7: WiFi 7 and a 10G WAN in the palm of your hand

UniFi Express 7 is the smallest way to get a complete UniFi network with WiFi 7. In a 117 x 117 x 42.5 mm unit weighing 443 g (1 lb) you get a gateway with 2.3 Gbps IDS/IPS, the UniFi controller, and a 6-stream WiFi 7 access point with 6 GHz covering 160 m² (1,750 ft²).

It manages 30+ UniFi devices and 300+ clients — so unlike the UXG line, the controller is built in and there is nothing else to buy.

A 10 Gigabit WAN on a device this size

A 10 Gigabit copper WAN port on a palm-sized device is the standout — multi-gig fibre or cable services connect natively with no adapter. The trade-off is the port count: one LAN port and a single WAN, so no multi-WAN failover and you will want a switch for anything wired beyond one device.

There is no PoE, and no UniFi Protect camera recording — for cameras see the UCG-Max or a Dream Machine.

It can also be a mesh access point

A useful trick: the UX7 can be optionally adopted as a wired or meshed Layer 2 UniFi access point to extend coverage on an existing UniFi network. So a UX7 bought as a gateway today can be redeployed as an AP later rather than retired, which is unusual and makes it a low-risk purchase.

Choosing access points to pair with it? See our access point comparison. For more ports and WiFi 7, the UDR7 adds a four-port 2.5 GbE switch with PoE and a 10G SFP+ WAN.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the UX7 include the UniFi controller?

Yes. Unlike the UXG line, the UniFi controller runs on the UX7 itself. It manages 30+ UniFi devices and 300+ clients.

Does the UX7 have a 10 Gigabit port?

Yes — 1 (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M) as the WAN port, plus 1 (2.5G/1G/100M/10M) as a LAN port.

How many LAN ports does the UX7 have?

One 2.5 GbE LAN port. For more wired devices you will need a switch.

Does the UX7 support multi-WAN failover?

No. Maximum WAN port count is 1. For multi-WAN, look at the UDR7, UCG-Max or UCG-Fiber.

What WiFi does the UX7 provide?

A 6-stream WiFi 7 radio with 6 GHz support — 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be (WiFi 6/6E, WiFi 7) — covering approximately 160 m² (1,750 ft²).

Can the UX7 be used as an access point?

Yes. It can optionally be adopted as a wired or meshed Layer 2 UniFi access point to extend coverage on an existing UniFi network, so it can be redeployed rather than retired.

Can the UX7 record security cameras?

No. It has no NVR storage and does not host UniFi Protect. For camera recording choose a UCG-Max, UCG-Fiber or a Dream Machine.

Does the UX7 have PoE?

No. Access points and cameras need a separate PoE switch.

How is the UX7 powered?

USB-C — USB type C (5V DC/5A) — with the adapter included. Maximum draw is 22W.

What is the difference between the UX7 and the UDR7?

Both include the controller and WiFi 7. The UDR7 adds a four-port 2.5 GbE switch with a PoE port, a 10G SFP+ WAN, multi-WAN support and UniFi Protect camera recording. The UX7 is far smaller with a single LAN port.
