The PowerShield SafeGuard 1000VA (PSG1000) is a line-interactive UPS rated 1000 VA / 600 W in a powerboard-style design with 8 Australian sockets (4 with battery backup and surge protection, 4 surge protection only). It delivers a simulated sine wave output on battery.

ARC IP Networks supplies the genuine PowerShield PSG1000 in Australia with the full PowerShield Australian warranty (2 years with advance replacement) and Australia-wide delivery.

PowerShield SafeGuard 1000VA overview

The SafeGuard is a line-interactive, powerboard-style UPS that sits between your equipment and an inconsistent mains supply. The PSG1000 is rated 1000 VA / 600 W, outputs a simulated sine wave on battery and transfers in 6 ms (typical). Automatic voltage regulation bucks and boosts the mains to within 10% of nominal, and its compact body can be wall mounted where space is tight.

It provides 8 Australian sockets (4 with battery backup and surge protection, 4 surge protection only), so essential devices keep running in an outage while non-essential devices still get surge protection. The SafeGuard 1000 adds a 10 W USB charging port and an informative screen display. PowerShield quotes about 25 minutes of backup with one PC drawing 100 W, from a single 12 V 9 Ah battery that is user-replaceable and hot-swappable.

Management

USB with HID allows plug-and-play orderly shutdown on computers and NAS drives without extra software, and the free PowerShield NetGuard software adds monitoring. The UPS cold starts from battery and keeps charging when switched off.

Where it fits

PowerShield lists the SafeGuard for small office and home office equipment, stand-alone PCs, workstations, telephone systems and point of sale equipment.

Other PowerShield published runtime figures

PowerShield publishes this backup time for the SafeGuard range with a single PC load. To size a UPS, PowerShield suggests adding the watts of the equipment to protect and dividing by 0.7 to get the VA rating the UPS must exceed; stay within the 600 W rating.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the PowerShield PSG1000 from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.

The PSG1000 is the PowerShield SafeGuard 1000VA line-interactive UPS, rated 1000 VA / 600 W with 8 Australian sockets (4 with battery backup and surge protection, 4 surge protection only).

No. The PSG1000 is a line-interactive UPS. It uses automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to correct high and low mains voltage without switching to battery, and transfers to battery in 6 ms (typical) when mains fails. For zero transfer time choose a Centurion online UPS.

No. The PSG1000 outputs a simulated sine wave in battery mode. For equipment that needs a pure sine wave, such as some active PFC power supplies, motors and gate controllers, choose a Commander or Centurion model.

About 18 minutes at 200 VA (140 W) and 5 minutes at 500 VA (350 W) with the UPS alone, per PowerShield's runtime chart. Real runtime varies with temperature and battery age.

No. PowerShield lists the PSG1000 as not expandable with external battery banks. For longer runtime choose a larger model or an expandable Commander RT or Centurion model.

No, not directly. The PSG1000 has a USB interface with HID support and the free NetGuard software for a locally connected computer or NAS, but no network card slot. For network monitoring choose a Defender Rackmount, Commander or Centurion with an intelligent slot.

Up to 600 W and 1000 VA. PowerShield suggests adding up the watts of the equipment you want to protect and dividing by 0.7 to get the VA rating the UPS must exceed, then allowing headroom for runtime.
