The ARC DATA ARC-ONU-X in depth

Ten gigabits to the premises

The ARC-ONU-X is a 10G PON subscriber unit with a 10GE and a GE auto-negotiating RJ45 port. A single unit can feed a 10-gigabit switch or server alongside a gigabit device without an intermediate switch, over one single-mode fibre up to 20 km from the OLT.

XG-PON or XGS-PON, chosen at order

The same platform terminates asymmetric XG-PON (10 Gbps down, 2.5 Gbps up) or symmetric XGS-PON (10 Gbps both ways). Specify which plant the unit will join when you order.

A data unit for your own gateway

There is no Wi-Fi. Bridge and route modes, IPv4/IPv6 dual stack, DHCP client and server, PPPoE, NAT, DMZ, 802.1Q VLAN, and IGMP and MLD snooping are on board, so it works with the router or firewall the site already uses.

Desk or wall

A tray-mounted fibre body lets the 140 x 140 x 36.5 mm unit sit flat on a desk or mount on a wall. It draws 12 W from an external 12 V / 1 A adapter.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the ARC DATA ARC-ONU-X from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed November 2026.

An XGS-PON ONU is the subscriber unit on an XGS-PON network, the ITU-T G.9807.1 standard that carries 10 Gbps in both directions over single-mode fibre and passive splitters. The ARC-ONU-X is a 10G PON ONU supplied as XGS-PON or XG-PON, with a 10GE and a GE port.

Either; it is selected when the unit is ordered. XG-PON is asymmetric (10 Gbps down, 2.5 Gbps up) and XGS-PON is symmetric 10 Gbps. Specify which plant it will join.

Yes. The 10GE and GE ports are independent auto-negotiating RJ45 interfaces, so a 10-gigabit switch and a gigabit device can be served from the same unit.

No. It is a data-only unit for sites that supply their own router or gateway.

No. NBN Co supplies and manages its own NTD at each premises, so this unit is not for NBN services. It works with your own XG-PON or XGS-PON OLT on a private fibre network, such as an estate, MDU, campus, hotel or ISP build.

Up to 20 km over single-mode fibre terminated SC/UPC, with -28 dBm receive sensitivity and an overload point of -8 dBm.

From the OLT over OMCI, with local web, Telnet and SSH access. It is also centrally managed via the ARC VISION Cloud Platform.

No. XGS-PON uses the same single-mode fibre, splitters and ODN as GPON, on different wavelengths, so both can run on one fibre plant while subscribers are migrated.

The box contains the ONU and a DC 12 V / 1 A power adapter. You also need an XG-PON or XGS-PON OLT, single-mode fibre, a splitter and the rest of the ODN. Call ARC IP Networks on 1300 100 440 for a matched bill of materials or project pricing.
