Yealink W78P and W79P Pro Explained: Premium and Rugged DECT, Plus When to Go Multi-Cell with W80 and W90

What the W78H and W59R Pro handsets add over the W73P, the lone-worker alarms on the W79P Pro, and how the W80B and W90B multi-cell systems cover a whole site.

The Yealink W78P is the premium single-cell DECT bundle: the W70B base with the W78H handset (2.4" colour screen, Bluetooth 5.1 for headsets, vibration alert, noise reduction). The W79P Pro pairs the same base with the IP67 W59R Pro rugged handset, adding Bluetooth 5.2 and emergency, man-down and no-movement alarms for lone workers. Both take up to 10 handsets and 20 calls per base; for bigger sites the W80B (100 handsets) and W90B (250 handsets) multi-cell systems use the same handsets.

ARC IP Networks is a trusted Yealink supplier in Australia: genuine Yealink stock with the full manufacturer's warranty, delivered Australia-wide at competitive prices, with local pre-sales help for businesses, installers and IT providers.

Where the W78P and W79P Pro sit in the Yealink DECT range

The W73P and W76P are Yealink's mainstream office bundles. The W78P is the step up for staff who want Bluetooth headsets and a better handset, and the W79P Pro is the choice when the handset has to survive a warehouse, kitchen, hospital or factory floor and protect a lone worker. All of them share the W70B base, so you can mix them on one system.

All bundles use the W70B base: up to 10 handsets, 10 SIP accounts and 20 simultaneous calls. Specifications as published by Yealink.

W78P in detail

The W78H handset has a 2.4" colour TFT display, HD audio with Yealink noise reduction for noisy environments, a 3.5 mm headset jack and Bluetooth 5.1 so a wireless headset pairs directly to the handset. Quick charging and long battery life keep it on a shift, and the vibration alarm means it is noticed in a workshop. If you already run a W73P, the W78H handset registers to your existing base, so you can upgrade individual users.

W79P Pro in detail

The W59R Pro is the handset for duty of care. It is IP67 rated against dust and immersion, carries dual-microphone noise cancellation and Bluetooth 5.2, and adds three safety features: an emergency key that calls or alerts a preset number, a man-down alarm that triggers when the handset detects a fall or horizontal position, and a no-movement alarm for a worker who has stopped moving. Those alarms are routed through your phone system to a supervisor or nurse station, which is why hospitals, aged care, cold stores and manufacturing sites specify it.

Going multi-cell: W80B and W90B

A single W70B base covers one floor or a compact site. When staff roam across a building or campus you need multi-cell DECT, where several bases hand calls between them. The W80B system supports up to 100 handsets and 100 simultaneous calls, with one W80DM manager coordinating up to 30 bases (a W80B can also act as the manager by software toggle). The W90B system scales to 250 handsets, 250 calls and 60 bases under a W90DM manager for hospitals, hotels, supermarkets and large warehouses. The same W73H, W56H, W57R, W59R and W78H handsets are used, so a site can start single-cell and grow without replacing handsets. Multi-cell deployments need a DECT site survey.

Both use the W70B base. The W78P ships with the premium W78H handset, which adds a 2.4-inch colour display, Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless headsets, a 3.5 mm jack, vibration alert and quick charging over the W73H in the W73P bundle.

The W79P Pro pairs the W70B base with the IP67 W59R Pro rugged handset, which has Bluetooth 5.2, dual-microphone noise cancellation and lone-worker safety features: an emergency key, a man-down alarm and a no-movement alarm routed through your phone system.

Yes. Both register to the W70B base already in the W73P, so individual users can be upgraded without changing the base. A base supports up to 10 handsets and 20 simultaneous calls.

When staff roam beyond one base's coverage, for example across floors or buildings. The W80B system supports up to 100 handsets and 100 calls with a W80DM manager for up to 30 bases; the W90B system supports 250 handsets, 250 calls and 60 bases.

Yes. The W73H, W56H, W57R, W59R, W59R Pro and W78H handsets work on single-cell W70B and on the W80 and W90 multi-cell systems, so a site can grow without replacing handsets.

Yes, for multi-cell deployments a DECT site survey determines base positions and hand-over coverage. ARC IP Networks can arrange one through the installer.
