Short answer: Daronmont Technologies, an Australian-owned defence industry SME, needed a replacement UPS for deployable military command and control systems that could handle high in-rush currents and operate from −30 °C to 50 °C. The PowerShield Centurion RT LiFePO4 3000VA, given a protective conformal coating for the project, passed every overload test and then ran fully after being frozen to −30 °C.
Outcome: it was the only UPS tested to pass all of the project’s requirements. The standard model we supply is the Centurion RT LiFePO4 3000VA (PSLCERT3000); project-specific treatments such as conformal coating are a project-quote discussion. ARC IP Networks is a trusted PowerShield supplier in Australia: genuine stock at competitive prices, with the full PowerShield Australian warranty, Australia-wide delivery and trade pricing.

The challenge: UPS power for the harshest climates
Daronmont Technologies specialises in the design, engineering, integration and support of complex high-technology systems. As a contractor to Australian Defence CASG, it helps ensure military personnel have modern, robust and safe materiel to work with.
Daronmont is the prime systems integrator for a range of deployable military command and control and associated capabilities. These systems operate in harsh environments and support 24/7 operations when deployed, and the UPS is one of their most important sub-systems. Many have older UPSs that need refresh and replacement.
The requirement was demanding: UPS solutions for air, land and maritime systems that can support the high in-rush currents of modern computing and other equipment while operating across an extreme temperature range of −30 °C to 50 °C.
The solution: a conformal-coated Centurion RT LiFePO4
The PowerShield Lithium-Iron Phosphate Centurion Rack Tower 3000VA UPS was included in Daronmont’s testing. For the project it underwent a protective conformal coating to increase its resistance to environmental problems.
- It passed all overload testing for Daronmont’s critical loads.
- After being subjected to a freezing temperature of −30 °C, it was able to operate fully.
- It was the only UPS tested to pass all of the project’s requirements.

Why the Centurion RT LiFePO4 3000VA fits mission-critical loads
These are the standard specifications PowerShield publishes for the PSLCERT3000:
- True online double conversion, positioned by PowerShield for mission-critical networks, servers, telecom and industrial applications.
- 3000VA / 2700W with a 0.9 output power factor, 89% efficiency and eight outlets.
- Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, which PowerShield says bring extended battery life, lighter weight, faster recharge and higher power density. It weighs 19.7 kg, against 26.8 kg for the lead-acid Centurion RT 3000VA in the same 600 × 438 × 88 mm chassis.
- Extra large charger (8 A), generator compatible, Advanced ECO mode, programmable outlets, EPO and hot-swappable batteries.
- 5-year PowerShield warranty, against 2 years (3 when registered) on lead-acid Centurion models.
The −30 °C to 50 °C range and conformal coating were Daronmont’s project requirements and test results, not a published rating for the standard model. The LiFePO4 model is not expandable with external battery modules.
What the client said
“It’s so refreshing to work with a UPS company that understands our requirements. Through exhaustive testing, Daronmont has proven the ability of the Centurion LiFePO4 UPS to meet the exacting requirements of our ADF customers. Daronmont is also impressed with the flexibility, support and experience of Powershield.”
What this means for your site
The lesson is to test the UPS against your real load and environment: in-rush current, temperature and duty cycle. That applies well beyond defence, to Australian sites such as:
- Defence, government and emergency services integrators building transportable or deployable systems.
- Mining, energy and remote industrial sites with hot or cold equipment rooms.
- Comms shelters, roadside cabinets and plant rooms where weight and battery life matter.
- Equipment with high start-up current, such as computing loads, where overload headroom is critical.
