The Ubiquiti UACC-Cable-C6A-CMP is a 305 m pull box of Category 6A horizontal cable rated CMP (plenum), the rating required for cable installed in air-handling plenum spaces such as the void above a suspended ceiling used for return air. It is unshielded twisted pair built from 23 AWG solid bare copper in four twisted pairs with a central anti-crosstalk divider, under a white flame-retardant PVC jacket 6.7 mm in diameter with a 26.8 mm minimum bend radius. Flame performance is established by the NFPA 262 plenum test. It is specified for 10GBASE-T over a full 100 m channel against ANSI/TIA-568.2-D and ISO/IEC 11801-1, and supports PoE++ (802.3bt). The riser-rated equivalent is the UACC-Cable-C6A-CMR.

Professional Overview

The UACC-Cable-C6A-CMP is the plenum-rated member of Ubiquiti's bulk Cat6A range. Plenum rating is not a quality upgrade over riser — it is a different fire classification for a different space. A plenum is any void used to move conditioned or return air, most often the gap above a suspended ceiling, and cable run through it must resist flame spread and limit smoke because that smoke enters the air handling path directly. That behaviour is verified by the NFPA 262 test, and only cable that passes it may be marked CMP.

Electrically it is identical in intent to the riser version: four pairs of 23 AWG solid bare copper, a cross-shaped central divider holding the pairs apart to control alien crosstalk, and transmission performance specified to ANSI/TIA-568.2-D, ISO/IEC 11801-1 (Edition 2.2) and IEC 61156-5 (Edition 2.1) for 10GBASE-T across a 100 m channel. The 23 AWG conductor also matters for power delivery: heavier copper means lower DC resistance and less heat rise in a bundle, which is what lets the run carry PoE++ (802.3bt, up to 90 W) to cameras, door readers, WiFi 7 access points and displays without derating.

The jacket is where the two products differ physically. The CMP jacket is FRPVC at 6.7 mm diameter against 7.05 mm on the CMR version, with a correspondingly tighter 26.8 mm minimum bend radius. In practice the slightly slimmer profile helps in a congested ceiling void or a full conduit. Construction is to UL 444 and CSA 22.2 No. 214, with EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS2) and 2006/95/EC (LVD). The pairs use the standard colour code: white-blue/blue, white-orange/orange, white-green/green, white-brown/brown.

Each box holds 305 m, measures 494 x 302 x 481 mm and weighs 21.3 kg — about 2 kg heavier than the riser box, which is the plenum compound. It pulls directly from the carton without a reel stand. Installation temperature is 0 to 60°C, and once installed it operates and stores from -20 to 75°C. As a planning figure one box covers roughly ten to twelve typical 25–30 m horizontal drops. It terminates to the UniFi Cat6A toolless keystone jacks and patch panels for a single-vendor copper channel. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does CMP mean on Ethernet cable?

CMP stands for Communications Multipurpose Plenum. It is the flame rating required for cable installed in air-handling plenum spaces, and it is verified by the NFPA 262 test.

What is the difference between the C6A-CMP and the C6A-CMR?

Flame rating and jacket. CMP (this product) is required in plenum spaces and uses a 6.7 mm jacket with a 26.8 mm bend radius. CMR (UACC-Cable-C6A-CMR) is the riser rating for vertical runs between floors and uses a 7.05 mm jacket with a 28.2 mm bend radius. Electrical performance is the same. CMP is the higher rating, so it may be used where CMR is required, but not the reverse.

Do I need plenum cable for my installation?

Only if the cable passes through a plenum — typically a ceiling void used to return air to the HVAC system. If your ceiling void is not used for air handling, riser-rated CMR cable is the correct and less expensive choice. Confirm the classification of the space with the building's mechanical drawings or your certifier.

Does this cable support 10 Gigabit Ethernet?

Yes. It is Category 6A specified for 10GBASE-T across a full 100 m channel, tested to ANSI/TIA-568.2-D, ISO/IEC 11801-1 (Edition 2.2) and IEC 61156-5 (Edition 2.1).

Can it carry PoE++ (802.3bt)?

Yes. The 23 AWG solid bare copper conductors have lower DC resistance than the 24 AWG used in lighter cable, which limits temperature rise in a loaded bundle and supports 802.3bt delivery up to 90 W.

Is it shielded?

No, it is UTP. Alien crosstalk is controlled by a central cross-shaped divider that separates the four pairs along the length of the run, so there is no shield to bond or maintain.

How many outlets will a 305 m box wire?

As a planning estimate, roughly ten to twelve, assuming 25 to 30 m per horizontal drop including slack and terminations. The maximum permitted horizontal channel is 100 m.

What is the minimum bend radius and installation temperature?

The minimum bend radius is 26.8 mm. It can be installed from 0 to 60°C and operates and stores from -20 to 75°C.

What standards does it meet?

NFPA 262 (CMP) for flame, UL 444 and CSA 22.2 No. 214 for material and construction, EU Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS2) and 2006/95/EC (LVD), and ANSI/TIA-568.2-D, ISO/IEC 11801-1 and IEC 61156-5 for transmission. Ubiquiti does not publish an AS/NZS listing, so confirm acceptance with your certifier if the job specifies an Australian standard.

What is the pair colour code?

Pair 1 white-blue/blue, Pair 2 white-orange/orange, Pair 3 white-green/green, Pair 4 white-brown/brown.
