When 60 GHz beats fibre
Two buildings on the same site, a shed across a yard, a second warehouse over a car park, a school block across an oval: anywhere a fibre trench means excavation, conduit and a contractor, a 60 GHz link goes in in an afternoon with two PoE cables. Because the beam is narrow and the band is uncrowded, 60 GHz links are also far less affected by neighbouring Wi-Fi than 5 GHz bridges. The trade-off is line of sight and rain fade, which is why range matters and why the Cube Pro carries a 5 GHz fallback.
Setup
Each kit ships as a pre-paired, pre-configured bridge. Mount both units with clear line of sight, power each over 802.3af/at PoE, and the link comes up encrypted. The far end presents a Gigabit Ethernet port that you treat like any cable run into a switch or router. For alignment on longer spans, the LHG dish and nRAY have narrower beams and higher gain, so use the RouterOS alignment tool. A pre-paired pair of 60 GHz radios that form an encrypted point-to-point link out of the box. Point them at each other, power them over PoE and you have a gigabit Ethernet bridge between two buildings with no fibre trench.
The original Wireless Wire kit is rated for short spans up to a few hundred metres at 1 Gbps full duplex. The Wireless Wire Dish and nRAY kits reach around 1500 m with a 2 Gb/s aggregate link. All need clear line of sight.
Heavy rain attenuates 60 GHz, which is why the long-range kits have more antenna gain, and the Cube 60Pro ac pairs a 60 GHz link with a 5 GHz 802.11ac backup radio that takes over during rain fade.
