The UniFi Access Fail-Secure Strike Lock is the 8 mm-latch member of Ubiquiti's electric strike range, sized for narrower door frames where the 15 mm version will not fit. Fail-secure means the door stays locked when power is removed, which is the correct behaviour for most commercial entrances that are not on a designated egress path.

UACC-Lock-Strike-Secure-8mm
227 kg Holding Force, 12V DC

The UniFi Access Fail-Secure Strike Lock is the 8 mm-latch member of Ubiquiti's electric strike range, sized for narrower door frames where the 15 mm version will not fit. Fail-secure means the door stays locked when power is removed, which is the correct behaviour for most commercial entrances that are not on a designated egress path.

Key features

  • Fail-secure: the door remains locked if power is lost, which suits most commercial entry doors
  • 227 kg holding force, well beyond what a standard office or tenancy door requires
  • 8 mm latch for narrower frames where the 15 mm strike will not fit
  • 12V DC at 200 mA — within the wet relay output of a UniFi Access Hub, so no separate power supply
  • Integrated door position sensor contacts, so held-open and forced-door events work without a separate reed switch
  • Both short (152 mm) and long (250 mm) stainless steel front plates supplied to suit the frame

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between fail-secure and fail-safe?

Fail-secure stays locked when power is removed; fail-safe unlocks. Fail-secure is normally correct for a commercial entry door, because losing power should not leave the building open. Fail-safe is used where the door forms part of a required egress path and must release on alarm or power loss. Get this confirmed against the fire and egress requirements for the tenancy before ordering.

8 mm or 15 mm — which do I need?

It refers to the latch projection the strike accommodates. The 8 mm suits narrower frames and shallower latches; the 15 mm handles deeper latch throws. Measure the existing latch before ordering, because the two are not interchangeable once the frame is cut.

Can a UniFi Access Hub power this directly?

Yes. At 12V DC and 200 mA it sits comfortably inside the 12V wet relay output of a UniFi Access Hub or Hub Mini, so no separate power supply is required for the lock itself.

Does it report whether the door is actually closed?

Yes. The strike includes door position sensor contacts on the white and orange conductors. Wired to the hub's DPS input, UniFi Access can distinguish between granted access and a door left propped open, and raise a forced-door event.

Will it fit a timber door frame?

Yes — it is rated for single timber or metal doors. Fitting requires the frame to be morticed to accept the 112 × 21 × 28 mm body, so it is a job for the installer rather than a surface-mounted retrofit.

Buying from ARC IP Networks
