Professional Overview

An access-controlled door only works if it actually closes. A lock that releases and a door that drifts open is an open door — which is why a closer is part of the door hardware set rather than an optional extra on any controlled opening.

The three adjustments are what make it fit real doors. Power size sets how hard it pulls, matched to the door's weight and width. Closing and latching speed are set separately, so the door can swing briskly then slow at the last few degrees to latch cleanly rather than slamming. Back-check limits how fast the door can be thrown open, protecting the door, the closer and whatever is behind it.

Non-handed means one part number covers both left- and right-hung doors — worth having on a site with a mix, since it removes the risk of ordering the wrong hand.

It is surface mounted, so it fits to the face of the door and frame without machining. Pair it with the door position sensing on a UniFi Access Hub and the system can tell you not just that a door was released, but that it actually closed again. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does non-handed mean?

The same unit fits both left- and right-hung doors, so there is no risk of ordering the wrong hand.

What can be adjusted?

Power size, closing speed, latching speed, and opening (back-check) speed.

What is back-check for?

It limits how fast the door can be thrown open, protecting the door, the closer and anything behind it.

How is it mounted?

Surface mounted to the face of the door and frame — no machining required.

Why do I need a closer on an access-controlled door?

A lock that releases on a door that then drifts open leaves the opening unsecured. The closer is what returns the door to the latched position.

Does it integrate with UniFi Access?

It is a mechanical closer, so it has no electronics. Pair it with door position sensing on the Access Hub to confirm the door actually closed.
