Specifications from Teltonika's official product data for the RUTM16, checked October 2026.

The RUTM16 Cat 6 LTE Router in depth

Cat 6 LTE for worldwide deployments

The RUTM16 uses a Telit modem that provides Cat 6 speeds and coverage across multiple markets, with 4G LTE up to 300 DL/50 UL Mbps and 3G fallback up to 42 DL/5.76 UL Mbps. It has two Mini SIM (2FF) slots and an integrated eSIM that supports up to 7 profiles, so carrier profiles can be managed at scale and site visits reduced. Automatic SIM switching covers cases such as weak signal, data limit, roaming and no network. Note that the eSIM does not include data plans.

Wired and wireless connectivity

Five RJ45 ports (1 x WAN and 4 x LAN) run at 10/100/1000 Mbps, and a USB 2.0 port connects external devices such as storage, printers or USB-serial adapters. Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2, MU-MIMO) reaches data rates up to 867 Mbps with up to 150 simultaneous connections. Wireless mesh (802.11s) and fast roaming (802.11r) support stable wireless access. Port and tag-based VLANs, including up to 128 VLANs, help segment IoT and industrial networks.

Industrial protocols, VPN and management

The router supports Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, BACnet and DLMS/COSEM, plus data-to-server over HTTP(S), MQTT and Azure MQTT. VPN options include OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, GRE, L2TP, DMVPN and more. It runs RutOS, an OpenWrt-based Linux OS, and can be managed through the WebUI, SSH, SNMP, TR-069, JSON-RPC and Teltonika Remote Management System (RMS). A digital input and output, GNSS location tracking and anodised aluminium housing suit field installations.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the RUTM16 Cat 6 LTE Router from the ARC IP Networks team. Last reviewed October 2026.

The Teltonika RUTM16 is a compact Cat 6 LTE router with a Telit modem, 5 x Gigabit Ethernet ports, Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and eSIM support. It is intended for large-scale applications like robotics, transport, roadside infrastructure and POS terminals.

Yes. It has an integrated consumer-type eSIM that supports profile download and removal, with up to 7 eSIM profiles. It also has 2 Mini SIM (2FF) slots. The eSIM does not include data plans.

It offers Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11b/g/n/ac Wave 2) with data rates up to 867 Mbps and MU-MIMO. It supports up to 150 simultaneous connections, wireless mesh (802.11s) and fast roaming (802.11r).

It uses a 4-pin industrial DC power socket with an input range of 9 – 50 VDC, and an 18 W PSU is included. Passive PoE is possible through the LAN1 port (Mode B, 9 - 50 VDC), but it is not compatible with IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt.

The RUTM16 can be mounted on a DIN rail, on a wall or on a flat surface. All of these options require an additional kit.

The box includes the router, an 18 W PSU, 2 mobile antennas (swivel, SMA male), 2 Wi-Fi antennas (magnetic mount, RP-SMA male, 1.5 m cable) and 1 GNSS antenna (adhesive, SMA male, 3 m cable). It also includes an Ethernet cable (1.5 m), a SIM adapter kit and a Quick Start Guide.
