HiLook by Hikvision NS-0518P-125 – 16-Port Gigabit Unmanaged PoE Switch, 2 × Gigabit SFP, 125 W PoE Budget, 1U Rack Mount
At a glance

The HiLook NS-0518P-125 is a 16-port Gigabit unmanaged PoE switch with two Gigabit SFP fibre ports for uplinks, in a 1U metal rack-mount case with mounting ears. The 16 PoE ports follow IEEE 802.3af/at with up to 30 W per port and a 125 W total PoE budget, and have 6 kV surge protection. 36 Gbps switching capacity gives wire-speed forwarding on every port. It has a built-in 100–240 VAC power supply. Plug-and-play, no configuration. Hikvision lists this model as discontinued, with the NS-0518P-125(B) as the current revision.

Best for

  • CCTV systems with up to 16 PoE IP cameras feeding a rack-mounted NVR.
  • Linking a camera switch to a remote building or the core network over fibre with the SFP ports.
  • Comms racks that need a tidy 1U switch with an internal power supply.
  • Mixed camera, access point and IP phone deployments within a 125 W budget.
  • Upgrading from Fast Ethernet PoE switches to full gigabit for high-resolution cameras.

HiLook PoE Switch FAQ – NS-0518P-125

It has 16 Gigabit PoE ports sharing a 125 W budget, with up to 30 W per port. Add up the maximum consumption of each camera from its datasheet and keep the total under 125 W; the PoE-MAX indicator warns when the limit is near.

No. The NS-0518P-125 is unmanaged and plug-and-play. It has no VLAN or web management settings; if you need VLANs, QoS or monitoring, choose a managed switch.

The two Gigabit SFP fibre ports are for uplinks over fibre, for example to an NVR, a core switch or another building. SFP modules are sold separately; Hikvision lists HK-SFP-1.25G series modules as optional accessories.

No. It has a built-in 100–240 VAC power supply. It uses about 25 W at idle and up to 150 W at full load.

Yes. It is a 1U, 440 mm wide metal chassis with mounting ears for a standard 19″ rack.

Yes. PoE follows IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at, so it powers standards-compliant cameras, access points and phones from any brand.

List the maximum power consumption from each camera’s datasheet, including IR and heater load, and add them together. Keep the total comfortably under 125 W, for example 16 fixed cameras at about 6–7 W each. Higher-draw devices such as PTZ cameras use up the budget faster, so spread them across the system or use a higher-budget switch.

Use Cat5e or Cat6 cable for the gigabit PoE ports, up to the standard 100 m per run. For the SFP ports, choose the SFP module to match your fibre: Hikvision lists single-mode 1310/1550 nm 20 km modules and a multimode 1310 nm module as optional accessories.

Hikvision’s global site lists the NS-0518P-125 as discontinued, with the NS-0518P-125(B) as the current revision. The specifications here are from the official NS-0518P-125 datasheet.

Professional overview

The HiLook by Hikvision NS-0518P-125 is a 16-port Gigabit unmanaged PoE switch with two Gigabit SFP fibre ports, designed as the access switch for medium-sized IP surveillance systems. It mounts in a standard 19″ rack using the supplied ears and has a built-in AC power supply, so a full 16-camera system can be powered from a single 1U unit.

Each of the 16 PoE ports supports IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at with up to 30 W, from a shared 125 W budget, and has 6 kV surge protection. PoE power management and a PoE-MAX indicator help installers stay within the budget. With 36 Gbps switching capacity, 26.79 Mpps forwarding, 4.1 Mbits of cache and an 8K MAC table, every port forwards at wire speed.

The two SFP ports allow fibre uplinks to an NVR, a core switch or a distant building, using optional Hikvision HK-SFP-1.25G modules. The switch follows IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3x, and carries CE, UL and CB approvals.

The NS-0518P-125 runs from 100–240 VAC, draws about 25 W at idle and up to 150 W at full load, and measures 440 × 44 × 220.8 mm at 2.5 kg. Hikvision lists it as discontinued, replaced by the (B) revision. It comes with the full manufacturer’s warranty. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
