At a glance

The HiLook IPC-T289H-MU/SL (2.8 mm) is an 8 MP (4K) active-deterrence turret. On detecting a person or vehicle it triggers a strobe light and a loud 110 dB audible warning, while Smart Hybrid Light switches between infrared and white light to 30 m. Two things to plan for: it needs 802.3at PoE+, and its speaker is a one-way deterrent — there is no two-way talk.

Why choose the IPC-T289H-MU/SL (2.8 mm)

The HiLook IPC-T289H-MU/SL (2.8 mm) pairs 4K detail with the loudest deterrent in this range — a 110 dB warning that carries across a yard, alongside a strobe, triggered only on a confirmed human or vehicle detection rather than on every passing cat. At 8 MP you get evidence you can actually zoom into afterwards. Two practical points before you order: it draws up to 18 W and requires an 802.3at PoE+ port — an af-only switch or NVR port will not run it reliably — and its speaker delivers one-way warnings only. If you need to hold a conversation through the camera, choose the T269H instead. Supplied and supported by ARC IP Networks with genuine Australian stock, Australian warranty and local support.

Before you order: this model requires an 802.3at PoE+ port (up to 18 W). It will not run reliably from an 802.3af-only switch or NVR port. The 6 MP T269H runs on ordinary 802.3af if that suits your existing hardware.

Best for

  • Sites with repeat trespass: a strobe and audible warning turns people around before they commit.
  • After-hours yards and car parks: deterrence fires only on confirmed people and vehicles, so it stays credible.
  • Evidence quality at night: white light gives full-colour footage; infrared keeps routine monitoring discreet.
  • Where the warning must carry: a 110 dB speaker across a large yard — needs a PoE+ port.

Professional Overview

The HiLook by Hikvision IPC-T289H-MU/SL is an advanced 8MP AI turret IP camera designed for comprehensive and proactive security surveillance. Featuring a 1/2.8" Progressive Scan CMOS sensor and delivering stunning 8-megapixel (4K) resolution, this camera ensures exceptionally clear and detailed imaging, critical for accurate identification and monitoring in any environment. Its 2.8mm fixed lens provides a wide field of view, ideal for covering broad areas with high precision.

This camera is equipped with cutting-edge deep learning capabilities for human and vehicle classification, significantly reducing false alarms and focusing alerts on genuine security threats. A standout feature is the Smart Hybrid Light technology, integrating both IR and White lights with three supplemental lighting modes (IR, White Light, Smart Mode), allowing for flexible surveillance in varying light conditions. Furthermore, its active deterrence capabilities, including red and blue flashing lights and an audio alarm, effectively warn off intruders before an incident escalates. The built-in arrayed dual-microphone captures high-quality audio, providing vital acoustic evidence alongside visual data.

Engineered for optimal performance in challenging conditions, the IPC-T289H-MU/SL features 120 dB true WDR technology, ensuring clear imaging against strong backlighting. Efficient H.265+ compression drastically reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without compromising video quality. Its robust full metal construction and IP67 rating guarantee supreme durability and resistance to water and dust, making it perfectly suited for harsh outdoor environments. With an IR range of up to 30 meters, continuous surveillance is maintained even in complete darkness.

The HiLook IPC-T289H-MU/SL is an ideal solution for a wide range of applications, from commercial premises and industrial sites to residential properties, where high-resolution video, intelligent detection, proactive deterrence, and reliable performance are paramount. Its combination of advanced imaging, smart analytics, integrated audio, and active alarm functions makes it a powerful tool for modern security infrastructure, offering peace of mind through superior monitoring and intruder warning capabilities.

How it compares

Both are IP67 active-deterrence turrets with a strobe, an audible warning, dual infrared and white-light illumination to 30 m and on-camera AI. They differ in three ways that matter on site: two-way audio, alarm I/O and how much power they need.

Frequently asked questions

On a confirmed human or vehicle detection the camera triggers an active strobe light and an audible warning, and can push an alert to your phone. Because detection uses deep-learning classification rather than simple motion, it is far less likely to fire at animals, rain or moving foliage.

Hikvision’s specification table defines the /SL suffix as a white light, while the marketing material for the same model describes a red and blue strobe. Because the official sources disagree we do not advertise a specific colour — if the colour matters for your site, ask us and we will confirm with the distributor before you order.

No. The IPC-T289H-MU/SL (2.8 mm) has a 2 W speaker, 110 dB at 10 cm for audible warnings and a built-in microphone for recording audio, but Hikvision does not provide two-way talk on this model and there are no line in/out connections. For two-way audio choose the IPC-T269H-MU/SL.

It can. The camera has both infrared and white-light illuminators reaching 30 m. Infrared gives discreet black-and-white footage; white light gives full colour. It can also switch to white light automatically when an event is detected, so routine monitoring stays discreet and incidents are captured in colour.

PoE+ required (802.3at, Class 4), max 18 W — or 12 V DC, 15 W. Note this is PoE+, not ordinary PoE — check your switch or NVR port supports 802.3at before ordering.

Yes. It takes a microSD card up to 512 GB for on-board recording, as well as recording to a network video recorder.

Yes. The housing is rated IP67 for dust and water and it operates from −30 °C to 60 °C. No vandal (IK) rating is published for this model.
