The Hikvision iDS-9632NXI-P8 is a 32-channel DeepinMind Pro recorder that runs deep-learning analytics on four GPU engines inside the recorder itself — facial recognition, perimeter protection and natural-language video search, on ordinary IP cameras. Eight drive bays take up to 20 TB each with RAID. Note it has no built-in PoE: cameras connect through separate switches.

Why choose the iDS-9632NXI-P8

The Hikvision iDS-9632NXI-P8 is a head-end recorder for a campus or enterprise site, and what you are paying for is analytics that do not depend on the cameras. Four GPU engines run face capture and comparison, perimeter protection and video structuralization on the recorder, so ordinary IP cameras gain capability they do not have themselves. AcuSeek lets an operator type what they are looking for — a description of a person or vehicle — and get results in seconds instead of scrubbing hours of timeline. Storage is eight bays at up to 20 TB with RAID 5, 6 or 10, so a failed drive does not cost you footage. This is a rack-mounted recorder fed by separate PoE switches — it has no PoE ports of its own. Supplied and supported by ARC IP Networks with genuine Australian stock, Australian warranty and local support.

Before you order: this recorder has no PoE ports. It is a head-end unit with eight drive bays — cameras connect through separate PoE switches on your network. Budget for those switches alongside it.

Best for

  • Campus and enterprise sites: 32 or 64 cameras fed from separate PoE switches.
  • Investigations: AcuSeek turns hours of scrubbing into a typed description.
  • Where footage cannot be lost: RAID 5, 6 or 10 across eight bays survives a drive failure.
  • Mixed or older camera fleets: analytics run on the recorder, so cameras need not be AI-capable.

Who it’s for

Government & education

Campus-wide systems with operator-driven investigation.

Shopping centres

Large camera counts with face and perimeter analytics.

Logistics & transport

Depots and hubs needing long retention and RAID.

Professional Overview

The Hikvision iDS-9632NXI-P8 is a flagship DeepinMind AcuSense Network Video Recorder that combines large-scale recording with on-board AI analytics. Its 32-channel input, 8 built-in PoE ports and dual GPU engines let an integrator deploy a complete intelligent surveillance head-end in one box — no separate analytics server, no separate PoE switch — for sites running facial recognition, perimeter protection or vehicle-attribute search.

AcuSense classifies every motion event as human, vehicle or other on the recorder itself, slashing false alarms from foliage, rain and animals. AcuSearch and AcuSeek take it further: operators can search hours of footage by colour, gender, vehicle type or even natural-language queries, getting evidence in seconds instead of scrubbing timelines. The 8-ch facial recognition engine handles real-time watchlists and image comparison against 32-ch image streams.

Eight 10/100 Mbps PoE ports with up to 150 W total budget power AcuSense and ANPR cameras directly, and two 10/100/1000 Mbps uplinks integrate with the wider IP network. Storage is enterprise-grade — 8 SATA bays for 112 TB raw capacity, RAID 0/1/5/6/10 with N+M hot-spare — and dual HDMI (8K + 4K) outputs give security ops a true control-room experience.

The iDS-9632NXI-P8 is the right choice when an existing 8-channel or 16-channel AcuSense NVR has run out of headroom and you need an enterprise platform that still ships AI analytics out of the box. Australian stock, warranty and integration support from ARC IP Networks.

How it compares

Both are DeepinMind Pro head-end recorders with identical storage, decoding, outputs and I/O. The 64-channel model adds channel capacity, ingest bandwidth and one extra AI engine.

Neither model has PoE ports. AI channel figures are mode-dependent and do not run simultaneously.

Complete your system

This recorder does not power cameras — it needs separate PoE switches for them. Pair it with Hikvision AcuSense cameras to unlock AcuSeek across all channels, and budget surveillance-rated drives for its eight bays.

Frequently asked questions

No. This is a head-end recorder with eight SATA drive bays and two gigabit network ports — the “P8” in the model number refers to the drive bays and the DeepinMind Pro generation, not to PoE. Cameras connect through separate PoE switches on the network. If you want a recorder that powers cameras directly, look at the HiLook NVR range.

Four GPU engines run analytics on the recorder rather than relying on the cameras: face capture and comparison against libraries holding up to 100,000 images across 32 lists, perimeter protection, and video structuralization. That means ordinary IP cameras gain capability they do not have themselves — which is the main reason to choose this class of recorder.

This is important and often misread: the AI channel figures are mode-dependent, not cumulative. Each configurable engine runs one algorithm at a time. Quoting the headline perimeter-protection figure (24 channels at 2 MP) assumes the engines are all assigned to perimeter without the large model — enabling the large model roughly halves it, and running facial recognition at the same time reduces it further. Tell us how you want to use it and we will size it properly.

It lets an operator search recorded video by describing what they are looking for in plain language, rather than scrubbing through a timeline. With AcuSense cameras attached it can model up to 600,000 targets per day across all channels. It is the feature that most changes how an operator actually uses the system.

Eight SATA bays at up to 20 TB each — 160 TB raw — with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10. RAID 5 or 6 means a drive can fail without losing footage, which JBOD recorders cannot offer. There is also an eSATA port for expansion.

ANPR is supported by the cameras, not by the recorder. The recorder receives, displays and searches plate events from ANPR-capable cameras. Australia and New Zealand are in the supported region list.

HDMI 1 outputs up to 8K at 30 Hz or 4K at 60 Hz, HDMI 2 up to 4K, plus two VGA outputs and CVBS. It drives two independent display groups, so a control room can show different views on different screens. Note that running HDMI 1 at 8K limits HDMI 2 to 1080p.

Two gigabit Ethernet ports, which can be used for failover or to separate a camera VLAN from the management network. These are gigabit, not 10-gigabit.
