Professional Overview

The UniFi EAV-Fiber is the aggregation core of Ubiquiti's Enterprise Audio/Video range — a 1U full-depth switch with (20) 10G SFP+ ports and (2) 100G QSFP28 uplinks, plus a 1 GbE RJ45 management port, serial console and an SMA grandmaster input. It is engineered to sit at the heart of a broadcast or pro-AV plant where standard data-centre switches struggle: an installation that needs to carry SMPTE ST 2110 uncompressed video, SDVoE 4K60 over 10G, AES67 audio and tens of EAV-Bridge endpoints simultaneously with sub-microsecond timing alignment.

The dataplane offers 800 Gbps switching capacity, 400 Gbps non-blocking throughput and 595 Mpps forwarding — comfortable headroom for a fully populated SFP+ fan-out flowing across the QSFP28 spine. The control plane is Layer 3 capable with 512 IPv4 static routes, 1,000 VLANs, 32,000 MAC entries and an 8 MB packet buffer, so the switch can act as both the AV fabric and the routing edge for an isolated production network. What truly differentiates the EAV-Fiber from a general-purpose 10/100G switch is the timing engine: native IEEE 1588 PTP, SMPTE ST 2110 transport awareness, SDVoE and AES67, all underpinned by an on-board OCXO oscillator and an SMA input for a GPS grandmaster — phase-locking studio chains across the entire plant.

For permanent installation, redundancy is carrier-grade: (2) hot-swappable AC/DC 150W power modules accepting 100–240V universal input, and (4) hot-swappable fan modules. Maximum power consumption is 150W and heat dissipation is 512 BTU/hr, so a single rack-rated PDU comfortably feeds the switch with full failover. A 1.3" front-panel touchscreen LCM exposes link state, clock health and port telemetry without a laptop, and serial console plus Ethernet management are both retained for operator workflows.

Build quality is broadcast-rated: SGCC steel enclosure and mount, four-post 19" rack support for 650–1,000 mm depths, ESD immunity of ±12 kV air / ±8 kV contact, and an operating envelope of -5 to 40 °C with 10–90% non-condensing humidity. The switch is managed end-to-end through UniFi Network alongside EAV-Bridge endpoints, switches, gateways and access points — no per-port licensing or separate AV-control software stack. Certifications cover CE, FCC and IC. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
