Technical Specifications

Professional Overview

The G4 Doorbell is the entry point to UniFi Protect's doorbell range. Where the Pro adds a second camera, a programmable display and a bundled chime, the standard G4 concentrates on the core job: see who is at the door, talk to them, and record the event into the same Protect timeline as every other camera on site.

Video is HD at 2MP with AI event detection, so the doorbell distinguishes a person from a passing car rather than simply reporting motion. Night coverage is 6 m of infrared. Two-way audio is integrated, so a visitor can be answered from the Protect mobile app without opening the door.

Connectivity is the practical differentiator against the Pro. The G4 Doorbell joins wirelessly over UniFi WiFi Auto-Link, which pairs it to an existing UniFi wireless network without a separate configuration step. If the site does not run UniFi wireless, third-party WiFi can be configured during setup through the UniFi Protect mobile app. That makes it far easier to retrofit to a door that has no Ethernet run available.

It is weather-resistant and specified for outdoor covered mounting — a porch, a recessed entry or under an awning — rather than a fully exposed doorway. A UniFi Protect host is required to record and manage it. Note that Ubiquiti publishes no technical specification table for this model, so the figures above are the full set it documents; the weight shown on this listing is our own shipping estimate. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the G4 Doorbell and the G4 Doorbell Pro?

The Pro adds a second camera dedicated to package detection, a programmable welcome display, and a PoE Chime in the kit. The standard G4 Doorbell has a single HD camera and connects over WiFi rather than requiring a wired PoE run.

Does it need an Ethernet cable?

No. It connects wirelessly using UniFi WiFi Auto-Link, which is the main reason to choose it over the Pro for a retrofit where no cable can be run to the door.

Can it work without UniFi wireless?

Yes. Third-party WiFi can be configured during setup through the UniFi Protect mobile app.

What video quality does it record?

HD at 2MP, with AI event detection.

How far does night vision reach?

6 m, via infrared.

Can it be mounted in an exposed position?

It is weather-resistant for outdoor covered mounting, so a porch or recessed entry is appropriate. Provide an overhang for a fully exposed doorway.

Does it have two-way audio?

Yes, integrated two-way audio.

What is needed to run it?

A UniFi Protect host — a UNVR or a Dream Machine model running Protect.
