Professional Overview

The AI Pro is the analytics camera in the UniFi Protect range, and this SKU supplies three in white. Where the G5 Pro is built around optics, the AI Pro is built around what happens to the image after capture: it adds face recognition and licence plate recognition on top of the standard AI event detection shared across the Protect range, backed by a quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 rather than the dual-core chip in the G5 Pro.

Its sensor is a 1/1.8" 8MP unit — physically larger than the 1/2" sensor in the G5 Pro, which is the main image-quality difference between the two. A larger sensor of the same pixel count means bigger photosites and better low-light behaviour before IR engages. The lens is the same F 4.1–12.3 mm ƒ/1.53–ƒ/3.3 with 3x optical zoom, giving 109.9° horizontal at wide and 34.9° at full telephoto. Night vision runs to 25 m, extending to 40 m with the optional Vision Enhancer.

Audio is a real difference too: the AI Pro carries a far-field microphone array supporting two-way audio, so it can be spoken through as well as listened to — useful for a gate, a loading dock or a service entrance. Networking steps up to a full Gigabit RJ45 port rather than the 10/100 port on the G5 Pro, which matters when several 4K streams share an uplink. Maximum draw is 11W, or 22W with a Vision Enhancer fitted, so budget roughly 33W of PoE for the three cameras, or 66W with Enhancers.

Each camera is ⌀86 x 112.6 mm without its mount, or ⌀86 x 175.3 mm with it, weighing 675 g bare and 820 g mounted, in aluminium alloy and polycarbonate on an aluminium alloy mount. It is rated IP65 for fully exposed outdoor use with IK04 tamper resistance, and includes wall, ceiling and pole mounts, the pole mount taking 38–50 mm. Operating range is -20 to 40°C at 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity. A UniFi Protect host is required. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cameras are in the UVC-AI-PRO-W-3?

Three. It is a three-pack of the UniFi Protect Camera AI Pro in the white finish.

What AI features does the AI Pro have?

Face recognition and licence plate recognition, in addition to the standard AI event detection found across the Protect range. It runs a quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor.

What is the difference between the AI Pro and the G5 Pro?

Three things: the AI Pro uses a larger 1/1.8" sensor against the G5 Pro's 1/2", which improves low-light performance; it adds face and licence plate recognition; and it has a far-field microphone array with two-way audio plus a Gigabit network port, where the G5 Pro has a microphone only and a 10/100 port.

Does the AI Pro support two-way audio?

Yes, through a far-field microphone array, so it can be both listened to and spoken through.

Can it be mounted fully outdoors?

Yes. It is IP65 rated for outdoor exposed mounting, with IK04 tamper resistance.

How far does the night vision reach?

25 m with built-in IR, extending to 40 m with the optional Vision Enhancer.

How much PoE power does each camera need?

A maximum of 11W each, or 22W with a Vision Enhancer. Three cameras total about 33W, or 66W with Enhancers.

What network port does it use?

A full Gigabit RJ45 port, unlike the 10/100 port on the G5 Pro.
