Professional Overview

The Touch Max is the top of the UniFi Talk desk phone range, and it is closer to a small Android tablet on a stand than to a traditional handset. The 7" HD touchscreen carries the dialler, directory and call controls, and the 5 MP camera makes it a video endpoint rather than voice-only.

The requirement to read before ordering is the licensing model. Ubiquiti states the phone must be assigned to a user holding a unique, directly assigned UniFi Talk phone number — it is not a device you can drop onto a desk as a shared extension without that assignment. Confirm your Talk numbering plan covers every Touch Max you intend to deploy.

It also needs an internet connection to function, which is inherent to UniFi Talk being a cloud-delivered service. A site with unreliable WAN will have unreliable telephony, so it belongs behind a gateway with failover if calls matter.

Ubiquiti publishes it in two finishes. Note that Leader currently flags this line as end-of-life, so availability is last-stock. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the screen size?

7 inch HD colour touchscreen.

Does it have a camera?

Yes, a 5 MP camera, so it works as a video endpoint rather than voice-only.

Do I need a UniFi Talk number?

Yes. Ubiquiti specifies the phone must be assigned to a user with a unique, directly assigned UniFi Talk phone number.

Does it work without internet?

No. It requires an internet connection to function, as UniFi Talk is a cloud-delivered service.

Can it be a shared desk extension?

Not without a directly assigned number — the licensing model ties the device to a user with their own Talk number.

What finishes are available?

Ubiquiti publishes UTP-TouchMax and UTP-TouchMax-White.
