UA-Retrofit-Reader-W Mounted Reader

UA-Retrofit-Reader-W NFC + Touch Pass

Features

  • UniFi Access door reader (white variant) — designed for indoor or outdoor wall and gang-box installation alongside the UA-Retrofit-Hub-2.
  • OSDP v2 protocol over RS-485 wiring — modern, encrypted reader-to-controller communication that replaces the legacy Wiegand attack surface.
  • NFC card support: 13.56 MHz, ISO 14443A / 14443B / 15693, NFC Tag 1/2/3/4/5, MIFARE Classic / Plus / Ultralight / DESFire — works with essentially every issued MIFARE credential in commercial use.
  • Apple Touch Pass + BLE 4.1 — mobile credential workflows from iOS Wallet and the UniFi Identity app, no card needed for issued users.
  • Read range under 30 mm (1.18") — fast, confident tap-to-unlock without spurious neighbouring-reader reads.
  • IP55 weatherproof — indoor and outdoor exposed installation; polycarbonate radome over an aluminium-alloy chassis with a stainless-steel mount.
  • Compact 117 × 45 × 13.3 mm, 82 g — fits standard wall plates, single-gang boxes (mount included) and optional junction-box installations.
  • Low power: 12V DC, 2.5W max — runs from a single twisted pair from the controller.
  • R/G/B/W LED status indication for access state, fault and identification.
  • (1) factory reset button.
  • ESD/EMP protection: ±15 kV air / ±8 kV contact — designed for high-touch public-realm doorways.
  • Operating range -30 to 50 °C with 5–90% non-condensing humidity.
  • Managed entirely from UniFi Access alongside other UniFi Access readers, hubs and intercoms — no per-reader licensing.
  • Certifications: CE, FCC, IC.

Professional Overview

The UA-Retrofit-Reader-W is the white variant of Ubiquiti's UniFi Access door reader designed specifically for retrofit deployments — sites where the controller (UA-Retrofit-Hub-2) is dropping into an existing third-party access-control cabinet and the door-side reader needs to be replaced at the same time. The white finish suits painted timber architraves, light-coloured façades, hospital and education environments, and any installation where the reader should visually integrate with the wall rather than draw attention to itself.

Communications are OSDP v2 over RS-485 — Ubiquiti's preferred secure-by-default reader protocol, replacing the legacy Wiegand standard that has been increasingly exposed to readily-available attack tooling. Three credential paths are supported simultaneously: NFC cards across the full commercial range (ISO 14443A, 14443B, 15693, NFC Tags 1-5, plus MIFARE Classic, Plus, Ultralight and DESFire), Apple Touch Pass for issued users with iOS Wallet credentials, and BLE 4.1 for tap-to-unlock from the UniFi Identity app on any modern phone. Read range is held under 30 mm to avoid spurious reads from adjacent doors in tight cabinet hallways.

The mechanical envelope is deliberately compact: 117 × 45 × 13.3 mm and 82 g, with a polycarbonate radome over an aluminium-alloy chassis and a stainless-steel mount. Both wall and gang-box mounts are included in the box (single-gang US/EU compatible); a junction-box mount is available as an optional accessory for installations where the reader needs to recess flush with a deeper finish. The enclosure is IP55 weatherproofed for outdoor-exposed installations, ESD/EMP protected to ±15 kV air / ±8 kV contact for high-touch public-realm entries, and rated for -30 to 50 °C ambient operation.

Power is delivered over the same RS-485 home-run as the data: 12V DC at just 2.5W consumption, sourced from the UA-Retrofit-Hub-2 controller. A four-colour (R/G/B/W) LED indicator surfaces access state, fault conditions and identification, and a single recessed factory-reset button is provided. The reader is managed end-to-end through UniFi Access alongside other UniFi Access hubs, readers and intercoms — no per-reader licensing, no separate access-control management software. Certifications cover CE, FCC and IC. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
