Professional Overview

The Ubiquiti UA-G3-Fingerprint-B is the black-finish Access G3 Reader Fingerprint, the biometric member of Ubiquiti's third-generation UniFi Access reader line. It is built for doors where one credential type is not enough: offices, server and comms rooms, medical and pharmacy stores, warehouses and external staff entrances that want fingerprints for employees while still accepting cards, PINs and phones for everyone else.

The reader combines a capacitive fingerprint sensor with a capacity of 300 fingerprints, a physical keypad, a 13.56 MHz NFC reader with a read range under 30 mm (ISO 14443A/B and 15693; MIFARE Classic, Plus, Ultralight and DESFire; NFC Tag types 1–5) and Apple Touch Pass for iPhone and Apple Watch, with 10 free 1-year Touch Passes included. A BLE 4.2 radio sits alongside the NFC antenna.

Installation is a single cable: PoE at 48 V DC over one 10/100 MbE RJ45 port, with a maximum draw of 5 W, so it fits within the budget of any PoE switch port or UniFi Access hub output. It is adopted and managed in the UniFi Access application on a UniFi OS console (Ubiquiti lists UniFi OS 6.0 RC as the minimum), where doors, schedules, users and credentials sit next to the UniFi network and Protect cameras on the same site.

The housing is polycarbonate with an aluminium-alloy body on a steel mount, measuring 126.2 × 45 × 56.9 mm and weighing 164 g. It is rated IP55 and classed as Outdoor Exposed, operates from -30 to 50 °C at 5–90% non-condensing humidity, and carries CE, FCC and IC certifications. A wall and gang-box mount is included, with a junction-box mount optional. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks, with the full manufacturer's warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Ubiquiti UA-G3-Fingerprint-B?

The UA-G3-Fingerprint-B is the black version of Ubiquiti's UniFi Access G3 Reader Fingerprint, a third-generation indoor/outdoor door reader that combines a capacitive fingerprint sensor, a keypad, a 13.56 MHz NFC card reader and Apple Touch Pass support. It is powered by PoE and managed in UniFi Access.

How many fingerprints can the UA-G3-Fingerprint-B store?

Ubiquiti specifies a fingerprint capacity of 300 for the G3 Reader Fingerprint.

Which credentials does the UA-G3-Fingerprint-B accept?

Fingerprint, keypad PIN, NFC cards (ISO 14443A/B and 15693, including MIFARE Classic, Plus, Ultralight and DESFire) and Apple Touch Pass on iPhone or Apple Watch. Ubiquiti includes 10 free 1-year Touch Passes.

How is the UA-G3-Fingerprint-B powered and connected?

By PoE over a single 10/100 MbE RJ45 port. The supported voltage is 48 V DC and maximum power consumption is 5 W, so one network cable carries both power and data.

Can the UA-G3-Fingerprint-B be installed outdoors?

Yes. It is rated IP55, Ubiquiti classes it as Outdoor Exposed, and it operates from -30 to 50 °C at 5–90% non-condensing humidity.

What do I need to run the UA-G3-Fingerprint-B?

The UniFi Access application on a UniFi OS console, plus a UniFi Access hub to drive the door lock. Ubiquiti lists UniFi OS 6.0 RC as the minimum platform version for this reader.

What is the difference between the UA-G3-Fingerprint-B and the UA-G3-Fingerprint-W?

Only the colour. The -B is black and the -W is white; the specifications, credentials and mounting are identical.

How does the UA-G3-Fingerprint-B compare with the UA-G3-Flex?

Both have a keypad, NFC and Apple Touch Pass, but only the G3 Reader Fingerprint adds a fingerprint sensor (300 fingerprints). The Flex is a smaller 88 × 88 mm square reader without biometrics.
