Frequently Asked Questions — Ubiquiti Access Reader G3 Pro

What is the Ubiquiti Access Reader G3 Pro?

The UA-G3-Pro is Ubiquiti's third-generation flagship door access reader: an indoor/outdoor NFC reader and video intercom with a 4.7-inch touchscreen for PIN unlock, a built-in 30 FPS camera, two-way audio, Touch Pass support and IP55 weatherproofing, powered by PoE over a single GbE connection.

What unlock methods does the G3 Pro support?

NFC cards and fobs (ISO/IEC 14443A/B, 15693, 18092, MIFARE Classic and DESFire, FeliCa), Touch Pass, and PIN entry on the touchscreen - so staff, visitors and contractors can each use what suits them.

Does the G3 Pro work as an intercom?

Yes. It has a built-in camera and two-way audio, and integrates with both UniFi Access and UniFi Protect - so a visitor at the door can call through, and the entrance is recorded like any other Protect camera.

Can the G3 Pro be used outdoors?

Yes. It is IP55-rated for exposed outdoor mounting, operates from -30 to 45 degrees C, has plus/minus 15 kV ESD protection, and is UL 294 certified for access control equipment.

What is the difference between the G3 Pro, G3 and G3 Flex?

The G3 Pro adds a touchscreen with PIN unlock, a camera and two-way intercom, and Protect integration. The standard G3 is a compact NFC/Touch Pass reader with handwave unlock for standard doors, and the G3 Flex is the value reader for internal and secondary doors.

How is the G3 Pro powered and connected?

Over a single PoE Ethernet cable (GbE port, 6W max) - one cable run per door for power, credentials, video and audio.

Does the G3 Pro need a subscription?

No. It is managed by the UniFi Access application on your UniFi console, alongside a UniFi Access door hub that controls the lock hardware - with no per-door licensing or subscription fees.
