The TP-Link SG3428X-M2 is an Omada Access Pro 24-port 2.5G L2+ managed switch with 4 x 10GE SFP+ slots, hardware V1.30 on the AU page. It has 24 multi-gigabit RJ45 ports up to 2.5 Gbps, 200 Gbps switching capacity, internal 100-240 V AC power, RJ45 and Micro-USB console ports, static routing, ERPS and ISP features, and is managed standalone or through an Omada controller. It has no PoE.

SG3428X-M2 overview

The SG3428X-M2 is TP-Link's Omada Access Pro 24-port 2.5G switch with 4 10GE SFP+ slots; the Australian page lists hardware V1.30, with V1 and V1.20 pages also available. It has 24 RJ45 ports that auto-negotiate at 10/100/1000 Mbps or 2.5 Gbps, four 10 Gbps SFP+ slots, an RJ45 console port and a Micro-USB console port. This is the non-PoE 24-port model in TP-Link's 2.5G Access Pro line: it suits 2.5G desktops, NAS and servers, or access points that are powered separately. For PoE, the SG3428XPP-M2 shares the 24 x 2.5G plus 4 x SFP+ layout with 802.3bt PoE++ on every RJ45 port and a 770 W budget.

Performance is non-blocking. Switching capacity is 200 Gbps and the packet forwarding rate is 148.80 Mpps, with a 32K MAC address table, 16 Mbit packet buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames. The switch runs from an internal 100-240 V AC 50/60 Hz supply. It has one fan; the V1.30 datasheet lists a maximum noise level of 30.5 dBA at 1 m (100% load, 45 degrees C ambient) and a fanless mode at minimum, with 20 of the 2.5G ports and all four SFP+ slots active at 25 degrees C ambient. The rack-mountable chassis measures 440 x 180 x 44 mm and the datasheet lists a net weight of 2.25 kg and an MTBF of 275,277 hours at 25 degrees C. The AU page lists 45.1 W maximum consumption and 0 to 40 degrees C operation; the V1.30 datasheet lists 37.9 W at 220 V and -5 to 45 degrees C.

Its L2+ feature set is the Omada Access Pro set. It supports 32 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces, static routing with 48 IPv4/IPv6 static routes, 128 static ARP entries and 512 ARP entries, proxy and gratuitous ARP, DHCP server, DHCP interface and VLAN relay and DHCP L2 relay, alongside link aggregation, spanning tree, loopback detection, flow control and mirroring. VLAN support covers 4K groups, 802.1Q, MAC VLAN with 256 entries, protocol VLAN, GVRP, VLAN mapping, VLAN replace and voice VLAN. Multicast covers 511 IGMP groups, IGMP snooping and authentication, MVR, MLD snooping and multicast filtering. ISP features include L2PT, DLDP, PPPoE ID insertion, ERPS, 802.3ah Ethernet Link OAM and DDM.

Security includes IP-MAC-port and IPv6-MAC-port binding (512 entries each), DHCP and DHCPv6 snooping, ARP inspection, ND detection and snooping, IPv4 and IPv6 source guard, DoS defend, DHCP filter, port security of up to 64 MAC addresses per port, storm control with kbps, ratio or pps modes, and 802.1X with VLAN assignment, MAB, guest VLAN and RADIUS. Standalone management covers the web GUI, CLI through the console port or Telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with RMON, LLDP-MED, DHCP AutoInstall, dual image and configuration, cable diagnostics and password recovery. Centralised management uses an Omada cloud-based controller (built-in version 5.15.22 or later), or a hardware or software controller (5.15.20 or later), adding cloud access, the Omada app, batch configuration and firmware upgrades and abnormal event warnings; Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the cloud-based controller. In the box are the switch, a power cord, a console cable, a rackmount kit, rubber feet and a quick installation guide.
