The Mercusys Halo H60X(3-pack) is an AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 mesh kit with one Halo H60XR router and two Halo H60XS satellites. Mercusys rates the 3-pack for up to 6,000 ft² (550 m²). Every unit offers 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and the kit provides seven gigabit ports: three WAN/LAN on the router and two LAN on each satellite.

Halo H60X(3-pack) overview

In the 3-pack, the H60X system is built from one Halo H60XR and two Halo H60XS units. The H60XR is the router that connects to the internet and carries three gigabit WAN/LAN ports; each H60XS is a satellite with two gigabit LAN ports that extends coverage. Mercusys's coverage rating for this kit is up to 6,000 ft² (550 m²), compared with 350 m² for the 2-pack, and the second satellite accounts for that difference. Configure the H60XR in the Mercusys app first, then power up the satellites and they join automatically.

Each of the three units is AX1500 class: up to 1201 Mbps on the 5 GHz band (802.11ax/ac/n/a) and up to 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band (802.11n/b/g). Mercusys describes Wi-Fi 6 as improving speed, efficiency and capacity, and the H60X page names the techniques: a 4x longer OFDM symbol, MU-MIMO, OFDMA, BSS Colour to reduce congestion from neighbouring networks, and 1024-QAM. Refined signal amplifiers and receivers, beamforming towards devices and self-healing route choice between Halos are also listed. The over 100 devices figure is Mercusys's, credited to OFDMA and MU-MIMO.

Across the kit there are seven gigabit ports: three on the H60XR and two on each H60XS. The router's ports auto-sense WAN or LAN, with one port acting as the WAN at a time, and the satellites' LAN ports give wired devices in other rooms a connection. Supported WAN types are Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, L2TP and PPTP, and the H60X runs in Router or Access Point mode with IPv4 and IPv6, DHCP server and client, WMM, an SPI firewall and local, remote or multi-manager administration. Mercusys's speed, coverage and device figures are not guaranteed; network conditions, client limits, materials, obstacles and traffic all play a part, and Wi-Fi 6 features need clients that support them.

All three Halos broadcast one Wi-Fi name and password. Mercusys says the system connects phones and tablets to the fastest node, provided they support 802.11k/v/r, which is also the mesh protocol listed. Wireless security covers WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3. The Mercusys app gives you connected-device status, QoS, guest Wi-Fi on both bands, alerts when a new device appears, monthly reports, and parental tools: user profiles, online time limits, website block lists and pausing the connection. The 3-pack box includes one Halo H60XR, two Halo H60XS units, three power adapters, one RJ45 Ethernet cable and a Quick Installation Guide. Every unit is 88 mm on each side. Further units must come from the Halo H series.
