ENVR Rack Deployment

Features

  • Enterprise 3U network video recorder — purpose-built for large UniFi Protect deployments at hospitals, universities, hotels, transport interchanges, manufacturing sites and commercial real estate.
  • (16) 2.5" / 3.5" HDD/SSD drive bays — mix-and-match SATA enterprise drives up to current high-capacity per-bay limits, with RAID protection for resilience against single-drive failures.
  • Records up to (70) 4K, (140) 2K or (210) HD UniFi Protect cameras simultaneously — single appliance covers an entire site rather than splitting recording across multiple smaller NVRs.
  • Concurrently manages up to (300) UniFi Access Hubs — runs UniFi Access for the same building's door system on the same hardware.
  • Also runs UniFi Connect, so the same console hosts Protect (cameras), Access (doors) and Connect (digital signage / displays) workloads — one management plane.
  • Networking: (2) 10G SFP+ ports + (1) 10 GbE RJ45 port — designed for 10 Gbps fan-in from a UniFi 10/25G access fabric, no bottleneck even with all cameras streaming at 4K.
  • 8-core ARM processor at 2.5 GHz with 32 GB RAM — headroom for AI processing, smart event detection and concurrent user sessions.
  • Carrier-grade power: (2) hot-swappable 550W CRPS power modules (Common Redundant Power Supply standard) for true active/active power redundancy at 100–240V AC.
  • Max. power consumption 410W (310W of which is the drive power budget), so a single 1U slot's worth of PDU capacity covers the full chassis.
  • Slide rails for four-post 19" racks with post depths from 650 to 1,000 mm; SGCC steel enclosure, aluminium mount, optional front bezel display.
  • Operating envelope -5 to 40 °C ambient, 5–95% non-condensing humidity — suitable for normal building MDFs without specialised cooling.
  • Managed entirely through UniFi Protect / Access / Connect on the same console — no per-camera or per-door licensing.
  • Certifications: CE, FCC, IC.

Professional Overview

The UniFi ENVR is Ubiquiti's Enterprise Network Video Recorder — a 3U full-depth rack appliance designed to centralise UniFi Protect (cameras), UniFi Access (door access) and UniFi Connect (digital signage / displays) for a large building, campus or multi-site organisation on a single console. It is the natural recording tier for sites that have outgrown the UNVR Pro and need genuinely large camera counts, redundant power and 10 GbE-class network ingestion.

The recording capacity is the headline: (16) 2.5"/3.5" drive bays with RAID protection support up to (70) UniFi Protect cameras at 4K, (140) at 2K or (210) at HD simultaneously. In addition, the same appliance can manage up to (300) UniFi Access Hubs for the building's door system — one console serves both estates rather than running parallel infrastructure. UniFi Connect adds the option to host signage and information-display workloads on the same hardware. Networking is (2) 10G SFP+ ports + (1) 10 GbE RJ45, sized for a 10 Gbps fan-in from a UniFi 10/25G aggregation switch (such as the ECS-Aggregation), so the ingest pipe is not the bottleneck even when every camera is encoding at high bitrate.

The compute platform is sized to match: an 8-core ARM processor running at 2.5 GHz with 32 GB of RAM — enough headroom for Protect's AI event-detection workloads, hot-event review, and concurrent operator and review sessions. Power is carrier-grade: (2) hot-swap 550W CRPS (Common Redundant Power Supply standard) modules deliver true N+1 active/active power redundancy from 100–240V AC at 7A max, with hot-swap replacement during service. Maximum power consumption is 410W — 310W of which is the drive power budget — so a single rack-PDU outlet pair feeds the chassis with full failover.

Mechanical build is uprated for permanent on-site deployment: SGCC steel chassis with an aluminium mount, slide rails for four-post 19" racks 650–1,000 mm deep, optional front-bezel display, and an operating envelope of -5 to 40 °C with 5–95% non-condensing humidity. Configuration, recording and review run end-to-end through UniFi Protect, Access and Connect on the same console — no per-camera, per-door or per-display licence. Certifications cover CE, FCC and IC. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.

Ubiquiti ENVR vs UNVR-Pro vs ENVR-Core — Which UniFi Protect NVR Do You Need?

The ENVR (Enterprise NVR) is Ubiquiti's 16-bay rack-mount recorder for large UniFi Protect deployments: it manages 210 HD, 140 2K or 70 4K cameras with dual hot-swappable 550W power supplies and 10G networking. It sits between the 7-bay UNVR-Pro (70 HD / 24 4K cameras, single PSU) and the flagship ENVR-Core (500 HD / 300 4K cameras, 25G SFP28, expandable to 48 drives).

Choose the ENVR for sites running roughly 70–210 cameras that need redundant hot-swap power and 10G recording throughput — schools, warehouses, hotels, logistics sites and multi-building campuses. Choose the UNVR-Pro for single buildings under ~70 cameras, and the ENVR-Core for precincts and enterprise estates beyond 210 cameras. All are managed through UniFi Protect and available with Australian stock from ARC IP Networks. Browse the full range on our Ubiquiti UniFi Protect cameras guide.

Frequently Asked Questions — Ubiquiti ENVR

What is the Ubiquiti ENVR Enterprise NVR?

The Ubiquiti ENVR is a 3U rack-mount, 16-bay enterprise network video recorder for UniFi Protect. It records up to 210 HD, 140 2K or 70 4K cameras, with dual hot-swappable 550W CRPS power supplies, an 8-core 2.5 GHz processor, 32 GB of RAM and 10G networking.

How many cameras can the ENVR record?

The ENVR manages up to 210 HD (1080p) cameras, 140 2K cameras, or 70 4K cameras in a single chassis. For larger deployments, the ENVR-Core scales to 500 HD or 300 4K cameras.

What drives does the ENVR use, and are they included?

The ENVR has 16 hot-swappable bays accepting 2.5" or 3.5" HDDs or SSDs, with support for hard-drive redundancy to protect footage. Drives are available separately, so you can size storage to your retention requirements.

What network ports does the ENVR have?

The ENVR provides (2) 10G SFP+ ports and (1) 10 GbE RJ45 port, giving redundant multi-gigabit connectivity for high camera counts and fast footage retrieval.

Does the ENVR have redundant power?

Yes. The ENVR ships with two hot-swappable 550W CRPS power supplies, so a failed PSU can be replaced without shutting down recording — a key requirement for surveillance in schools, logistics and enterprise sites.

What is the difference between the ENVR, UNVR-Pro and ENVR-Core?

The UNVR-Pro (7 bays) records up to 70 HD / 24 4K cameras with a single internal PSU. The ENVR (16 bays) records up to 210 HD / 70 4K cameras and adds dual hot-swap PSUs, 32 GB RAM and dual 10G SFP+. The flagship ENVR-Core records up to 500 HD / 300 4K cameras with 25G SFP28 networking and expansion up to 48 drives.

Which cameras work with the ENVR?

The ENVR runs UniFi Protect and manages UniFi Protect cameras — including the G5, G6, AI and Enterprise series — through a single interface with no licensing fees per camera.

Ubiquiti ENVR: UniFi Protect recorder

The Enterprise NVR is a UniFi Protect recorder that manages 210 HD or 70 4K cameras, takes (16) 2.5/3.5" drive bays and connects over (2) 10G SFP+ ports (1) 10 GbE RJ45 port.

3U NVR with (16) 2.5/3.5” drive bays, supporting up to (70) 4K cameras or (210) Full HD cameras.

It is the console the cameras record to — Protect runs on the recorder, footage stays on the drives you fit, and there is no cloud subscription.

Who the ENVR suits

  • Sites past the point where a Cloud Gateway's built-in Protect can keep up
  • Builds that need weeks of 4K retention rather than days
  • Installs where the recorder, drives and cameras are specified as one system

How the ENVR fits a UniFi Protect system

The ENVR is the console: cameras are adopted by it, footage is written to its drives, and Protect is administered from it. There is no subscription and no cloud storage fee.

Compare it against the rest of the range in our UniFi Protect NVR comparison, size the disks with the storage guide, then pick cameras from the Protect camera range.
