ENVR-Core
Ubiquiti UniFi Enterprise NVR Core (ENVR-Core) — 3U Rack-Mount 16-Bay Network Video Recorder for 500 HD / 300 4K Cameras with 128-Core ARM, 64 GB RAM, 2× 25G SFP28, Dual SFF-8644 Drive Expansion (Up to 48 Drives) and Hot-Swap Dual PSU
Professional Overview
The UniFi ENVR-Core is the top-tier Enterprise Network Video Recorder in the UniFi Protect range — a 3U full-depth chassis designed for very large recording loads where the regular ENVR runs out of headroom. Where the ENVR maxes out at (70) 4K or (210) HD cameras, the ENVR-Core scales to (300) 4K, (400) 2K or (500) HD cameras on a single chassis, and concurrently manages 300+ UniFi Access Hubs and UniFi Connect endpoints from the same console.
The differentiator is the compute platform. The ENVR-Core ships with a 128-core ARM v8.2 processor at 2.6 GHz and 64 GB of RAM — sixteen times the cores and twice the memory of the regular ENVR. That headroom matters because at 300 × 4K cameras the recorder is doing real work: video ingest, AI event detection, thumbnail generation, smart-event indexing, and dozens of concurrent operator and review sessions all running in parallel. The compute also opens the door to future Protect features such as live AI inference at higher tier counts.
Storage scales the same way. The base chassis takes (16) 2.5"/3.5" HDD/SSD bays with RAID protection, and (2) SFF-8644 24G expansion ports allow drive shelves to be added to a total of (48) drives without changing the host chassis. Networking is uprated to (2) 25G SFP28 ports (auto-negotiate down to 10G or 1G), so the recorder pairs naturally with the ECS-Aggregation switch for a 25G recording fabric — a 10G fan-in stops being adequate at 300-camera 4K loads. A separate GbE MGMT port keeps administration off the recording path.
Despite the larger capability envelope, the ENVR-Core is more efficient than the regular ENVR: 237W maximum system consumption + 313W drive power budget, against the ENVR's 410W max. Power is delivered by (2) hot-swap 550W CRPS PSUs in active/active redundancy. The chassis ships with the UACC-3U-Bezel-Lite faceplate in the box — front-panel display and status LEDs are ready on day one, no separate accessory purchase. Slide rails are four-post 19" with square holes (9.5 × 9.5 mm) and post depths from 600–1,066 mm. Ethernet plus Bluetooth management is offered; the operating envelope is 10–35 °C and 20–90% non-condensing humidity — purpose-built for a proper machine room rather than a wiring cupboard. Certifications cover CE, FCC and IC. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
Ubiquiti ENVR-Core: UniFi Protect recorder
The Enterprise NVR Core is a UniFi Protect recorder that manages 500 HD or 300 4K cameras, takes (16) 3.5" drive bays and connects over (2) 25G SFP28 ports (25G/10G/1G) (1) GbE MGMT RJ45 port (1G/100M).
3U UniFi Protect NVR with 16-bay support for 2.5"/3.5" HDDs/SSDs, up to (300) 4K or (500) Full HD cameras, hot-swappable power supplies and optional 16-bay storage expansion units.
It is the console the cameras record to — Protect runs on the recorder, footage stays on the drives you fit, and there is no cloud subscription.

Camera counts are a guide, not a hard limit — resolution, frame rate and retention all change what the ENVR-Core will comfortably carry. Our storage sizing guide works the numbers through.
RAID protects against a single drive failing. It is not a backup — it will not help if the unit is stolen or the site burns.
Drives are not included. Fit surveillance-rated drives rather than desktop disks; the full shopping list covers what else a recorder build needs.

An SFP+ uplink matters once several 4K cameras record at once — see the UniFi switch range for a switch with a matching port.
How the ENVR-Core fits a UniFi Protect system
The ENVR-Core is the console: cameras are adopted by it, footage is written to its drives, and Protect is administered from it. There is no subscription and no cloud storage fee.
Compare it against the rest of the range in our UniFi Protect NVR comparison, size the disks with the storage guide, then pick cameras from the Protect camera range.
Frequently Asked Questions
