The TP-Link EAP725-Wall is an Omada BE3600 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 wall plate access point with up to 2882 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. It has a 2.5G PoE uplink (802.3at or 802.3bt), a 2.5G downlink and three Gigabit downlinks, two of which provide PoE out with up to 30 W in total when fed by 802.3bt PoE++. It adds MLO, 4K-QAM, 160 MHz channels, Bluetooth 5.2 and Omada SDN.

EAP725-Wall overview

The EAP725-Wall is TP-Link's Omada wall plate Wi-Fi 7 access point. TP-Link says it delivers a fast, reliable and secure network experience with versatile mounting options for flexible deployment across diverse environments. In Australia it is listed as BE3600, with signal rates of up to 2882 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz; TP-Link's global datasheet describes it as BE5000 for the US and BE3600 for the EU. Wi-Fi 7 features include Multi-Link Operation (MLO), Multi-RUs, 4K-QAM and 160 MHz bandwidth, which TP-Link says enhance throughput, connection stability and concurrent capacity. TP-Link notes that maximum signal rates are physical rates and actual results vary.

The port layout is unusually generous for a wall plate. The uplink is a 10M/100M/1000M/2.5G multi-gigabit port with PoE in, and the downlinks are a second 2.5G multi-gigabit port plus three 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit ports. The 2.5G downlink suits a desktop PC or NAS in the room, while two of the Gigabit ports offer flexible PoE out for devices such as IP phones or cameras. TP-Link describes this as 2x 2.5G ports (one PoE+/PoE++ in) plus three Gigabit ports (two PoE out or one PoE+ out).

How much PoE out you get depends on how the AP is powered. With 802.3bt PoE++ input, the two PoE out ports support either dual PoE or single PoE+ output, with a 30 W total power budget. With 802.3at PoE+ input, they support dual PoE output with a 7 W total budget; in that mode, if both ports are connected, one port shuts down automatically if either exceeds 3.5 W. Maximum power consumption is 46.8 W with 30 W of PoE out, which requires 802.3bt input. So for an IP phone or camera behind the plate, plan for an 802.3bt switch port; for Wi-Fi and data only, 802.3at is sufficient.

The unit is slim at 167.8 x 86 x 28 mm and weighs 0.34 kg, with a physical security lock and kits for junction box or wall mounting. Internal antennas are 2 x 3 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 2 x 5 dBi on 5 GHz, plus a 1 dBi Bluetooth antenna for the built-in Bluetooth 5.2 radio. The AU product page lists coverage of 90 square metres (970 sq ft), while the datasheet headline says up to 70 square metres (750 sq ft); both are based on laboratory testing. TP-Link lists 250+ concurrent clients. It operates from 0 to 40 °C, and listed certifications are FCC, CE, NCC, VCCI, JRF, BSMI and WFA.

Wireless functions include 16 SSIDs (up to eight per band), band steering, load balance, airtime fairness, beamforming, SSID and client rate limits, WMM QoS, RADIUS accounting and MAC authentication, and the datasheet adds PPSK, multiple portals and port VLAN. Security covers captive portal authentication, access control, MAC filtering, client isolation, VLAN, rogue AP detection and WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 Personal/Enterprise. Management is through Omada hardware controllers, the Omada Software Controller or Omada Central (cloud-based), plus the Omada app V4.24 and above; the datasheet lists Omada Controller and Omada Essential V5.14.25 and above. Cloud access and zero-touch provisioning require an Omada controller, and seamless roaming and captive portal work with a controller. In the box are the EAP725-Wall, mounting kits and an installation guide.
