The TP-Link EAP245 (5-pack) contains five Omada AC1750 dual-band ceiling mount access points: up to 1300 Mbps on 5 GHz and 450 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, MU-MIMO, two gigabit Ethernet ports, power from 802.3af PoE or 48 V passive PoE, up to 16 SSIDs, and centralised management through Omada controllers and the Omada app.

EAP245(5-pack) overview

The EAP245 is an AC1750 wireless MU-MIMO gigabit ceiling mount access point from TP-Link's Omada range, and this pack contains five of them, each with its own mounting kit. Each EAP245 is dual-band, with signal rates of up to 1300 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 450 Mbps on 2.4 GHz under IEEE 802.11ac/n/g/b/a. Internal omnidirectional antennas (3 x 3.5 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 3 x 4 dBi on 5 GHz) cover both bands, and the wireless feature set includes MU-MIMO, beamforming, band steering, load balancing, airtime fairness, automatic channel assignment, transmit power control, QoS (WMM), rate limiting and wireless and reboot schedules, with wireless statistics by SSID, AP and client.

Each access point has two gigabit Ethernet ports, and one of them accepts power. TP-Link lists the EAP245 as supporting 802.3af PoE and 48 V passive PoE, so it can be powered by a PoE switch or a passive PoE source and needs only one cable for data and power. TP-Link adds that its elegant appearance and simple mounting design make attachment to a wall or ceiling easy, and ceiling/wall mounting kits are included. Maximum power consumption is 12.3 W per access point. Each EAP245 measures 205.5 x 181.5 x 37.1 mm and has a physical security lock and a reset button.

Up to 16 SSIDs per access point (eight on each band) let you separate wireless networks, with SSID-to-VLAN mapping, wireless isolation between clients, MAC address filtering, access control, rogue AP detection and 802.1X support. Encryption options include WEP, WPA/WPA2-Enterprise and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. TP-Link describes the Omada SDN platform as integrating access points, switches and gateways into a business network with higher efficiency, security and reliability, and the EAP245 joins that platform alongside other Omada devices.

Centralised management is available through the Omada Cloud-Based Controller, the OC300 or OC200 hardware controllers, or the Omada Software Controller, with cloud access through any of those and multi-site management. Zero-touch provisioning is supported when using the Omada Cloud-Based Controller. The free Omada app lets you configure settings, monitor network status and manage clients from a phone or tablet, which TP-Link says gets you set up in minutes. Listed management features also include web-based HTTP/HTTPS management, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c, local and remote syslog, email alerts, LED on/off control, management VLAN and management MAC access control. The access points operate from 0 °C to 40 °C and carry CE and FCC certification. ARC IP Networks supplies the EAP245 (5-pack) from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
