Why choose the DS-3E1528P-EI

The Hikvision DS-3E1528P-EI is the flagship of the smart-managed range: 24 gigabit PoE ports on a generous 370 W budget, plus four gigabit uplinks — two RJ45 and two SFP fibre — so you can uplink to the recorder, the core network and a remote building at the same time, or aggregate links for more bandwidth.

It adds features the smaller models lack. Perpetual PoE keeps cameras powered while the switch reboots, so a firmware update does not black out the site. DHCP snooping blocks rogue DHCP servers, DSCP-based QoS with SP/WRR scheduling prioritises video, up to 8 static link-aggregation groups are supported, and DDM monitors the temperature, voltage and optical power of fitted SFP modules.

Everything else you expect is here: 802.1Q VLANs (up to 1,024), STP/RSTP, port isolation, port mirroring, LLDP, cable diagnostics, PoE watchdog and 300 m long-range PoE, all visible in Hik-Partner Pro. Supplied by ARC IP Networks as genuine Australian stock with local warranty and support.

Best for

  • Large camera systems: 24 PoE cameras on one managed switch.
  • Gigabit devices: gigabit on every port for cameras, APs and intercoms.
  • Fibre backbones: two SFP ports for building-to-building links.
  • Zero-downtime updates: perpetual PoE keeps cameras up during a reboot.
  • Secure networks: VLANs, DHCP snooping and port isolation.

Professional Overview

The Hikvision DS-3E1528P-EI is a 24-port gigabit smart-managed PoE switch for larger surveillance and converged networks. All 24 PoE ports run at gigabit speed and can each deliver up to 30 W under IEEE 802.3at from a shared 370 W budget, while two gigabit RJ45 ports and two gigabit SFP fibre ports provide four independent uplinks — to a recorder, a core switch, another building, or combined through static link aggregation.

The feature set goes beyond the smaller -EI models. Perpetual PoE keeps powered devices running while the switch itself reboots, DHCP snooping allows DHCP traffic only from trusted ports, DSCP-based QoS with SP and WRR scheduling protects video traffic, and DDM reports the temperature, voltage, current and optical power of fitted SFP modules. Up to 1,024 VLANs, STP/RSTP loop prevention and port isolation across all 28 ports complete the security picture.

Day-to-day operation is simple. The PoE watchdog restarts cameras that stop responding, long-range mode reaches devices up to 300 m away, and cable detection finds open circuits, shorts and cable length. Hik-Partner Pro gives installers one-click activation, topology, PoE usage, alarm status, remote port restarts, remote long-range mode and remote firmware upgrades; HikCentral Professional and the built-in web interface are also supported.

The 1U metal chassis has an internal 100–240 V AC power supply and can sit on a desk or mount in a 19-inch rack with the supplied ears. It suits warehouses, campuses, schools, hospitality and any site with up to 24 PoE cameras, access points or intercoms. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.

How it compares

All three are 24-/16-port gigabit smart-managed (-EI) switches with PoE watchdog and 300 m long range. The DS-3E1528P-EI adds more uplinks, faster switching and perpetual PoE.

Complete your system

Pair this switch with Hikvision or HiLook PoE cameras and a non-PoE Hikvision NVR sized for your channel count. Keep the total device power under 370 W, and use the SFP ports with matching gigabit optical modules for fibre runs.

Browse Hikvision NVRs →Browse cameras →

Works with your system

Perpetual PoE. When the switch reboots — for example after a configuration change — PoE output stays on, so cameras keep recording. Hikvision notes the exceptions are a power outage or a PSE firmware upgrade.

Hikvision & HiLook cameras

Any IEEE 802.3af/at PoE camera — Hikvision, HiLook or third-party.

Hik-Partner Pro

One-click activation, topology, PoE usage, alarms, port restarts and remote firmware upgrades.

HikCentral Professional

Manage the switch alongside cameras and recorders in HikCentral Pro.

Web management

Built-in web GUI with DHCP client and a fixed “Super IP” (10.180.190.200) for direct access.

Any NVR or network

Standard Ethernet uplink to a non-PoE NVR, a router or your core switch.

Cable diagnostics

Detects open circuits, short circuits and cable length from the switch.

Frequently asked questions

It has 24 gigabit PoE ports and a 370 W total PoE budget, with up to 30 W per port. Twenty-four typical fixed cameras fit comfortably; higher-draw devices use more, so add up each device’s maximum power and keep the total under 370 W.

Four: two gigabit RJ45 ports and two gigabit SFP fibre ports. Use them to connect the recorder, the core network or another building, or bond them with static link aggregation for more bandwidth and redundancy.

PoE output stays on while the switch reboots, so your cameras do not lose power and stop recording. Hikvision notes PoE is interrupted only by a power outage or a PSE firmware upgrade.

A camera occasionally locks up and stops sending video while still drawing power. The PoE watchdog on the DS-3E1528P-EI detects a camera that stops responding and power-cycles that port automatically to restart it — so a frozen camera recovers itself instead of needing a site visit.

Standard Ethernet is specified to 100 m. In long-range mode the DS-3E1528P-EI can reach a powered camera up to 300 m away on its PoE ports. Hikvision notes long-range performance varies with the camera model and cable condition, so use good-quality solid-copper Cat6 for long runs.

Each PoE port supplies up to 30 W (IEEE 802.3af/at), which runs standard fixed cameras and many compact PTZs. Large PTZs, heated housings or devices needing more than 30 W require a Hi-PoE (802.3bt) switch or the camera’s own power supply. Always check the camera’s maximum power draw.

Yes. It is a standard IEEE 802.3af/at PoE switch, so it works with any compliant PoE camera — Hikvision, HiLook or third-party — and connects to any NVR, router or network switch through its uplink port(s).

Through a built-in web interface, through HikCentral Professional, or remotely through the Hik-Partner Pro cloud, which shows port rate, bandwidth use, PoE usage, topology and alarms and lets you restart ports, enable long-range mode and upgrade firmware remotely.

Yes. Hikvision lists both desk-mounted and rack installation; rack-mounting ears are included for a standard 1U 19-inch space.
