DGS-F1210-26PS-E FAQ

What is Long Reach PoE on the DGS-F1210-26PS-E and how far can it go?

Long Reach PoE is a D-Link technology that extends the maximum PoE-plus-data cable run beyond the standard 100 m Ethernet limit, up to 250 m on Cat.5e or better. On the DGS-F1210-26PS-E, 8 of the 24 PoE+ ports support Long Reach mode — useful for outdoor IP cameras and access points beyond normal reach. When Long Reach mode is enabled via the front-panel DIP switch, port speed drops to 10 Mbps, which is adequate for cameras and VoIP.

How many PoE+ devices can the DGS-F1210-26PS-E power?

The DGS-F1210-26PS-E has a 230 W PoE budget shared across its 24 PoE+ ports, supporting both IEEE 802.3af (up to 15.4 W) and 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30 W per port). That is sufficient for roughly 14 IEEE 802.3af IP cameras at 15.4 W each, or approximately 7 PoE+ Wi-Fi 6 access points at 30 W each.

Does the DGS-F1210-26PS-E protect against lightning and power surges?

Yes. Every port on the DGS-F1210 Series (including the DGS-F1210-26PS-E) includes 6 kV lightning/surge protection — a significant advantage for outdoor CCTV backbones, long cable runs to rooftops, or installations exposed to electrical transients. Combined with Long Reach PoE, it is well suited to perimeter surveillance deployments.

What security and VLAN features does the DGS-F1210-26PS-E offer?

The DGS-F1210-26PS-E is a Smart Managed switch supporting 4K 802.1Q VLANs (plus MAC-based and IP-based VLANs), Auto Voice VLAN, 802.1X port-based authentication with RADIUS, IP-MAC-Port Binding, DHCP Snooping, DoS protection, ARP Spoofing Prevention, and ERPS ring protection with sub-50 ms failover recovery.

How do I manage the DGS-F1210-26PS-E?

Management options include a multilingual web GUI (HTTP/HTTPS/SSL V3), full CLI via Telnet/SSH V1/V2 or the local console port, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3 for third-party NMS integration. The front-panel DIP switches also allow no-configuration enablement of VLAN Port Isolation, Long Reach PoE, PoE Watchguard, and QoS Auto Priority.

Is the DGS-F1210-26PS-E Australian stock with local warranty?

Yes. ARC IP Networks supplies the DGS-F1210-26PS-E as Australian stock with D-Link Australia warranty support. The unit operates between 0 and 40 °C with 10–90% non-condensing humidity, ideal for indoor comms rooms powering outdoor PoE endpoints via Long Reach.

Professional Overview

The D-Link DGS-F1210-26PS-E is a 26-port Gigabit Smart Managed PoE+ switch purpose-built for extended-reach IP surveillance and access-network deployments. It delivers 24× Gigabit PoE+ ports — 8 of which operate in D-Link’s Long Reach PoE mode, delivering power and data on a single cable up to 250 m — plus 2× Gigabit SFP uplink slots in a single 1U chassis.

A 230 W PoE budget with full IEEE 802.3af / 802.3at compliance (up to 30 W per port) powers IP cameras, VoIP phones, and Wi-Fi access points. Combined with 52 Gbps non-blocking switching capacity and 38.7 Mpps forwarding, the DGS-F1210-26PS-E keeps pace with traffic-heavy surveillance and voice environments.

Every port includes 6 kV lightning/surge protection — a critical feature for outdoor CCTV backbones and perimeter camera installations exposed to electrical transients. Advanced security features include 802.1X port-based authentication, IP-MAC-Port Binding, DHCP Snooping, ARP Spoofing Prevention, and DoS protection.

Management options include a multilingual web GUI, full CLI via Telnet/SSH or console, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, LLDP, and RMON. Front-panel DIP switches provide no-configuration shortcuts for VLAN port isolation, Long Reach PoE enable, PoE Watchguard, and QoS Auto Priority — useful for field technicians without CLI access.

Housed in a silent single-fan 1U 440 × 180 × 44 mm chassis weighing 3.0 kg, and backed by Australian stock and warranty from ARC IP Networks, the DGS-F1210-26PS-E is a dependable choice for long-distance PoE deployments where traditional 100 m Ethernet limits and power outlets are a problem.
