DGS-1250-28XMP FAQ

What 10G SFP+ transceivers does the DGS-1250-28XMP support?

The four 10G SFP+ uplink slots accept standard D-Link SFP+ transceivers: DEM-431XT (10GBASE-SR, up to 300 m OM3 multi-mode), DEM-432XT (10GBASE-LR, 10 km single-mode), DEM-433XT (10GBASE-ER, 40 km single-mode), DEM-434XT (10GBASE-ZR, 80 km single-mode), and BiDi variants DEM-436XT-BXD/BXU for 20 km single-fibre runs. Backward-compatible with 1G SFP transceivers as well.

How many PoE+ devices can the DGS-1250-28XMP power?

The DGS-1250-28XMP has a 370 W PoE budget across its 24 PoE ports, supporting IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at PoE+ up to 30 W per port. That powers approximately 24 standard PoE IP cameras at 15.4 W each, or around 12 PoE+ Wi-Fi 6 access points at 30 W each simultaneously.

Does the DGS-1250-28XMP support Layer 3 routing?

The DGS-1250-28XMP is a Layer 2+ Smart Managed switch supporting static routing — 124 IPv4 static routes and 50 IPv6 static routes across up to 4 IP interfaces, plus IPv6 Neighbor Discovery. It does not run OSPF or BGP, so it is best used as an access/aggregation layer switch behind a Layer 3 core or router.

What is the difference between the DGS-1250-28XMP and the DGS-1210-28MP?

Both are 24-PoE-port 370 W switches, but the DGS-1250-28XMP adds 4× 10G SFP+ uplinks (vs 4× 1G SFP combo on the 1210-28MP), 128 Gbps switching (vs 56 Gbps), 95.24 Mpps forwarding (vs 41.7 Mpps), 16K MAC table (vs 8K), 4094 VLANs (vs 256), 12K jumbo frames (vs 10K), and 256 MB DDR3 (vs 128 MB). The DGS-1250-28XMP is the right choice when you need 10G fibre aggregation or higher VLAN and MAC scale.

Does the DGS-1250-28XMP support Auto Surveillance VLAN?

Yes. Surveillance Mode detects compatible ONVIF IP cameras automatically and places them in a dedicated surveillance VLAN, with its own Web UI for monitoring camera topology and PoE status. Combined with Auto Voice VLAN for VoIP traffic, it lets a single DGS-1250-28XMP carry voice, video, and data on segregated VLANs without dedicated hardware.

Is the DGS-1250-28XMP Australian stock with local warranty?

Yes. ARC IP Networks supplies the DGS-1250-28XMP as Australian stock with D-Link Australia warranty support. It holds CE, VCCI, FCC Class A, IC, and BSMI EMI certifications plus CB, UL, BSMI, and CCC safety approvals. Designed for continuous operation from −5 to 50 °C and 0–95% non-condensing humidity.

Professional Overview

The D-Link DGS-1250-28XMP is a Smart Managed Layer 2+ switch purpose-built as an enterprise-access or SMB aggregation platform. It pairs 24× Gigabit PoE+ ports with 4× 10G SFP+ uplinks in a single 1U rack chassis — bridging copper access to a 10G fibre backbone without requiring a separate aggregation layer.

Performance is substantially above the DGS-1210 family: 128 Gbps non-blocking switching capacity, 95.24 Mpps forwarding rate, a 16K MAC address table, 12 Mbits of packet buffer, 256 MB of DDR3 DRAM, and 12,000-byte jumbo frames. A 370 W PoE budget and 802.3af/802.3at compliance power up to 24 PoE+ devices at 30 W each simultaneously.

4094 static 802.1Q VLAN groups, Auto Voice VLAN, and Auto Surveillance VLAN (with its own dedicated Web UI) let administrators segment voice, CCTV, and data traffic without adding appliances. Static routing with 124 IPv4 and 50 IPv6 routes across 4 IP interfaces handles inter-VLAN routing at the access layer.

Security is hardened with D-Link’s Safeguard Engine, 802.1X port-based and host-based access control, RADIUS/TACACS+, ARP Inspection, DHCP Snooping, IP-MAC-Port Binding, and DoS prevention. Management covers everything from Web GUI and Full CLI through Telnet to SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and the free D-Link Network Assistant utility.

Housed in a 440 × 250 × 44 mm 1U chassis weighing 3.46 kg, with dual firmware image / dual configuration for zero-downtime upgrades and full Australian certifications (RCM, FCC, CE, CB, UL), the DGS-1250-28XMP is a future-proof aggregation switch for growing business networks. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
