Smart Managed PoE+ Switch FAQ — DGS-1210-28P

How much PoE power does the DGS-1210-28P deliver?

The DGS-1210-28P has a 193 W PoE budget shared across its 24 PoE ports and supports both IEEE 802.3af (up to 15.4 W per port) and IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30 W per port). That is sufficient to run roughly 12 standard PoE IP cameras or VoIP phones at full 15.4 W, or around 6 PoE+ Wi-Fi 6 access points at 30 W each. For denser PoE+ deployments, consider the DGS-1210-28MP (370 W).

What is the difference between the DGS-1210-28P and the DGS-1210-28MP?

The DGS-1210-28P and DGS-1210-28MP share the same 28-port Gigabit architecture, 56 Gbps switching capacity, and Layer 2+ feature set. The key difference is PoE budget: the 28P provides 193 W across 24 PoE ports, while the 28MP provides 370 W. Choose the 28P for smaller IP camera or VoIP deployments; the 28MP when you need to simultaneously power many PoE+ devices such as Wi-Fi 6 access points.

Does the DGS-1210-28P support VLANs and static routing?

Yes. The DGS-1210-28P is a Layer 2+ Smart Managed Switch supporting 256 static 802.1Q VLAN groups, Auto Voice VLAN, and Auto Surveillance VLAN (ONVIF). For inter-VLAN routing it supports 4 IP interfaces and 124 IPv4 / 50 IPv6 static routes, plus IPv6 Neighbor Discovery — enough for most SMB networks without a dedicated Layer 3 core.

Is the DGS-1210-28P rack mountable?

Yes. The DGS-1210-28P ships in a standard 19-inch 1U metal chassis measuring 440 × 250 × 44 mm and weighs 3.75 kg. Rack-mount ears are included. It can also sit on a desk or shelf, and has two internal fans for active cooling under PoE load.

How do I manage the DGS-1210-28P?

You can manage the DGS-1210-28P through a multilingual web-based GUI, a compact CLI over Telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 (for D-View 7.0 or any third-party NMS), and the free D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) utility for bulk discovery and firmware upgrade. It does not require a cloud license.

Is the DGS-1210-28P Australian stock with local warranty?

Yes. ARC IP Networks supplies the DGS-1210-28P as Australian stock with full D-Link Australia warranty support and RCM compliance. Certifications include CE, VCCI, FCC Class A, BSMI, CCC EMI and CB, UL, BSMI, CCC safety. Designed for continuous operation from −5 to 50 °C and 0–95% non-condensing humidity.

Professional Overview

The D-Link DGS-1210-28P is a Smart Managed Layer 2+ switch built for growing business networks that need dense Gigabit connectivity with moderate PoE delivery. It provides 24 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ ports and 4 Gigabit SFP/RJ45 combo uplinks in a single 1U rack-mount appliance.

A 193 W PoE budget and full IEEE 802.3af / 802.3at compliance support standard PoE IP cameras, VoIP phones, and moderate numbers of PoE+ access points. Combined with 56 Gbps non-blocking switching capacity and 41.7 Mpps forwarding, the DGS-1210-28P delivers line-rate performance for surveillance and voice traffic.

Auto Voice VLAN and Auto Surveillance VLAN (ONVIF camera discovery) simplify convergence, while D-Link’s Safeguard Engine, 802.1X authentication, ACLs, ARP Spoofing Prevention, and DHCP Server Screening protect users and infrastructure at the edge.

Management options include a multilingual web GUI, compact CLI, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 for D-View 7.0 integration, and the free D-Link Network Assistant utility for bulk discovery and firmware updates. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and D-Link Green power scheduling keep running costs down.

Backed by a 440 × 250 × 44 mm 1U rack-mount chassis and full Australian certifications (RCM, FCC, CE, CB, UL, BSMI, CCC), the DGS-1210-28P is a dependable, cost-effective core for SMB access-layer deployments. Australian stock from ARC IP Networks.
