Microsoft Teams Phone Standard in depth

A cloud phone system native to Teams

Teams Phone Standard provides call control and PBX features in the Microsoft 365 cloud, so staff make and take business calls in the same Teams app they use for chat and meetings. Calls between Teams users in your organisation stay in Teams and never go to the PSTN.

Connecting to the phone network

A PSTN solution is separate from the Teams Phone licence. Teams Phone Standard is the phone system for customers who bring their own calling plan from a service provider through Operator Connect or Direct Routing, or who add a Microsoft Teams Calling Plan.

Teams-certified devices

Teams Phone works in all Teams desktop and mobile clients and on certified third-party hardware. Microsoft partners with manufacturers including Yealink to certify desk phones, conference phones and headsets for Teams.

Subscription terms

  • Annual commitment: a 12-month term, priced per user.
  • Under Microsoft's New Commerce terms, a subscription can only be cancelled in the first seven days of its term.
  • You can add licences during the term; reductions apply from the next renewal.
  • Monthly billing is available on request through a quote.

Yes. Teams Phone includes enterprise phone system features such as auto attendants and call queues.
