The TP-Link Archer TX50UH is an AX3000 high gain Wi-Fi 6 dual-band USB 3.0 adapter for Windows 10 and 11 PCs. It reaches up to 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with two adjustable high-gain dual-band antennas, Beamforming, MU-MIMO and WPA3, and comes with a USB 3.0 cradle.

Archer TX50UH overview

The Archer TX50UH is TP-Link's AX3000 high gain Wi-Fi 6 USB adapter. It supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, with dynamic signal rates of up to 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz with 11ax and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with 11ax. On older networks it connects at up to 1733 Mbps with 11ac or 300 Mbps with 11n on 5 GHz, and down to 11n, 11g and 11b on 2.4 GHz. TP-Link says Wi-Fi 6 is designed to deliver a big boost in coverage, speed and total capacity, and that MU-MIMO lowers latency and congestion so streams, gameplay and uploads stay smooth while the network serves several devices. Signal rates are maximum rates; the speed you see depends on your router, distance and interference.

The TX50UH has two high-gain dual-band antennas that are multi-angle adjustable, and TP-Link combines them with Beamforming to concentrate Wi-Fi signals towards your router for better reception and reliable connections from far away. A status LED shows the adapter's state. The adapter measures 30.5 x 14.8 x 111.7 mm (1.2 x 0.58 x 4.4 in).

The TX50UH connects over USB 3.0. TP-Link states that USB 3.0 offers transfers of up to 4.8 Gbps, up to ten times faster than USB 2.0, and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, and positions the adapter for HD streaming, online gaming and large file downloads. A USB 3.0 cradle is included in the box, and TP-Link describes a 1.2-metre USB 3.0 cable that makes it easy to find a good spot for the adapter in your workspace, while the adapter attaches to and detaches from your computer as needed.

Wireless security covers WEP, WPA/WPA2/WPA3 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, so it can join current WPA3 networks as well as older ones. The adapter runs in infrastructure mode, connecting to your router or access point. Supported operating systems are Windows 10 and Windows 11. It is rated for 0 to 40 degrees C operation with 10 to 90 per cent non-condensing humidity, and carries FCC and CE certification. In the box are the Archer TX50UH, a quick installation guide and the USB 3.0 cradle. ARC IP Networks supplies the Archer TX50UH from Australian stock with the full manufacturer's warranty.
