USW-Pro-XG-Aggregation vs Pro Aggregation vs Aggregation — Which UniFi Core Switch?

The Pro XG Aggregation is UniFi's biggest core switch: (32) 25G SFP28 ports and 1.6 Tbps of switching capacity (800 Gbps non-blocking) for aggregating multi-gigabit access switches, servers and gateways like the EFG or UDM-Beast. The Pro Aggregation mixes (28) 10G SFP+ with (4) 25G SFP28, and the compact Aggregation provides (8) 10G SFP+ for small cores.

Choose the Pro XG Aggregation when your access layer runs Pro XG / Enterprise switches with 25G-capable uplinks, or you are consolidating storage and virtualisation hosts at 25G. Choose the Pro Aggregation for 10G-centric cores with 25G headroom, and the Aggregation for small networks. Browse the full range on our Ubiquiti UniFi switches guide. Frequently Asked Questions — Ubiquiti USW-Pro-XG-Aggregation

What is the Ubiquiti USW-Pro-XG-Aggregation?

The USW-Pro-XG-Aggregation is UniFi's flagship aggregation switch: (32) 25G SFP28 ports (each supporting 25G/10G/1G modules) with 1.6 Tbps switching capacity and 800 Gbps fully non-blocking throughput, Layer 3 routing and Etherlighting, with USP-RPS redundant power support.

What connects to a Pro XG Aggregation switch?

It aggregates the uplinks of access switches (such as the Pro XG and Enterprise series with 25G/10G uplinks), high-throughput servers and NAS, and 25G-capable gateways like the EFG or UDM-Beast - forming the core of a multi-gigabit UniFi network.

What is the difference between the Aggregation, Pro Aggregation and Pro XG Aggregation?

The Aggregation has (8) 10G SFP+ ports (160 Gbps) for small cores. The Pro Aggregation offers (28) 10G SFP+ plus (4) 25G SFP28 (760 Gbps). The Pro XG Aggregation is all-25G: (32) SFP28 ports and 1.6 Tbps - roughly ten times the small Aggregation's capacity.

Are its ports compatible with 10G modules?

Yes. Each of the 32 SFP28 ports also accepts 10G and 1G SFP modules and DACs, so you can migrate to 25G progressively without replacing the core again.

Ubiquiti USW-Pro-XG-Aggregation: Layer 3 Etherlighting switch

The Switch Pro XG Aggregation is a Layer 3 UniFi switch offering 800 Gbps of non-blocking throughput, 1.6 Tbps switching capacity.

Port layout is 32 × 25G SFP28.

Etherlighting ports illuminate to show port location, speed and link state, and the native VLAN — genuinely useful when tracing a patch lead in a busy rack. Ubiquiti recommends pairing them with UniFi Etherlighting patch cables for best brightness.

Who the USW-Pro-XG-Aggregation suits

  • Core and aggregation duty collecting uplinks from access switches.
  • 25 Gigabit backbones between racks, floors or buildings.
