Overview

The Ubiquiti U6-Enterprise-IW is a sleek, wall-mounted WiFi 6E access point with an integrated 4-port switch. Tri-band (2.4/5/6 GHz) with 4×4 MU-MIMO on the 5 and 6 GHz bands, it serves 600+ clients and fits neatly into a wall outlet — ideal for high-density hospitality, offices, apartments and MDUs. Supplied with local warranty by ARC IP Networks in Australia.

Key capabilities

2.4, 5 and 6 GHz with 4×4 MU-MIMO on the 5 and 6 GHz bands for fast, low-latency wireless.

High throughput

Up to 4.8 Gbps on both the 6 GHz and 5 GHz bands (BW160).

Integrated 4-port switch

Four GbE RJ45 ports with one PoE output to power a downstream device — perfect behind a desk or TV.

600+ clients

Handles high device density in busy environments.

Single-cable PoE

Ubiquiti U6-Enterprise-IW: WiFi 6E access point

The Access Point U6 Enterprise In-Wall is a UniFi WiFi 6E access point with 10 spatial streams, a rated coverage area of 115 m² (1,250 ft²) and 600+ concurrent clients.

On the wired side the uplink is 2.5 GbE, it is powered by PoE+ PoE++ (Required for PoE output), and draws at most 21W (Excluding PoE output).

This is an indoor access point. It carries no ingress rating, so for a veranda, a carport, a warehouse dock or anywhere else exposed to weather, use a unit that is rated for it.

In Australia the ACMA class licence opens 5925–6425 MHz to WiFi — the lower 500 MHz of the 6 GHz band, not the full 5925–7125 MHz range the United States allows. There are still more clean channels there than anywhere in 5 GHz, but plan channel width accordingly: a 320 MHz channel consumes most of what is available here.

802.11n6.5 Mbps to 600 Mbps (MCS0 - MCS31 , HT 20/40)

These are modulation-coding-scheme ceilings measured at the radio, not speeds a client will see. Real throughput depends on the client's own radio, the channel width you can actually use, distance and how much of the band your neighbours are already occupying. Our UniFi access point comparison puts the range side by side.

Power methodPoE+ PoE++ (Required for PoE output)
Max. power consumption21W (Excluding PoE output)
Supported voltage range44–57V DC
ManagementEthernet Bluetooth

Power comes down the Ethernet run as PoE+ PoE++ (Required for PoE output), drawing up to 21W (Excluding PoE output). On a switch that shares one PoE budget across every port, add up the draw of every AP before you commit — the UniFi switch range lists the total availability for each model.

The 2.5 GbE uplink is there for a reason: a WiFi 7 radio can move more than a gigabit, and on a 1 GbE port the switch becomes the bottleneck before the radio does. It will negotiate down to 1 GbE and work, but you lose the headroom you paid for.

Who the U6-Enterprise-IW suits

  • Hotel rooms, apartments and student accommodation — one AP per room
  • Wall-box installs that also need wired ports beside the AP
  • Enterprise sites standardising on the U6 Enterprise range
  • Rooms where a ceiling AP cannot be cabled

Management and requirements

UniFi Network versionVersion 6.0.45 and later
ManagementEthernet Bluetooth

Like every UniFi access point, the U6-Enterprise-IW is adopted and managed by a UniFi controller — a Cloud Gateway or Dream Machine, a Cloud Key, or UniFi hosting. The AP does not run the controller itself, and it is not a standalone router: it provides the WiFi, while routing, firewall and VLANs live on the gateway.

It requires UniFi Network 6.0.45 and later. An older controller will not adopt it until you update.
