The TP-Link Tapo C320WS is a 2K QHD outdoor security camera with full-colour night vision. A starlight sensor and two built-in spotlights keep images in colour after dark, IR night vision reaches 30 m, and the housing is rated IP66. It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with dual antennas or through an Ethernet port, and offers person, vehicle, intrusion, line-crossing and tamper detection.

Tapo C320WS overview

The Tapo C320WS is TP-Link's outdoor security Wi-Fi camera with full-colour night vision. Its weatherproof housing is rated IP66, and TP-Link lists a waterproof microphone, waterproof loudspeaker and waterproof sealing ring among its design features; the box includes a waterproof seal and waterproof cable attachments for the connections. It is wall-mounted, operates from -20 °C to 45 °C and measures 142.3 x 103.4 x 64.3 mm. Power comes from a 9 V / 0.6 A DC adapter on a 3-metre power cable.

Video is 2K QHD at 2560 x 1440 (4MP), recorded at 15 fps in H.264 with 3DNR and WDR. TP-Link says this resolution delivers more delicate detail, and the specifications list 12x digital zoom. The lens is 3.18 mm with an F1.61 aperture in front of a 1/3-inch sensor, which TP-Link describes as a high-sensitivity starlight sensor that captures higher-quality images in low light so details are not lost in shadows. Two built-in white-light spotlights allow full-colour video at night, where TP-Link contrasts the C320WS with the black and white view of normal cameras, and 850 nm infrared night vision reaches up to 30 m (98 ft).

Motion detection can be customised with area intrusion detection, line-crossing detection and cover (tamper) detection, and the AI detection list also includes person and vehicle detection. The built-in siren can be started manually as a deterrent, and TP-Link says it can also work automatically with the different motion detections; it is rated at 91 dB measured at 10 cm. Two-way audio with noise cancellation lets you speak with a delivery person through the built-in microphone and speaker.

Networking is flexible: dual antennas connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), or a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port gives a wired connection. RTSP and ONVIF are supported, and security includes on-device machine learning, 128-bit AES encryption with SSL/TLS and WPA/WPA2-PSK. The camera stores up to 512 GB of 2K QHD video on a microSD card (not included), and Tapo Care cloud storage is available by subscription, adding notifications with snapshots. Live view, playback, saved clips and set-up are handled in the Tapo app, and the camera works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, which are not available in all languages and countries. The package contains the Tapo C320WS camera, power adapter, mounting template, anchors and screws, waterproof seal, waterproof cable attachments and a quick start guide.
