The TP-Link SG2206MP is an Omada Access 6-port gigabit smart switch with 4-port PoE+. It has four 802.3af/at PoE+ RJ45 ports with a 63 W budget, Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE, one further gigabit RJ45 port and one gigabit SFP slot. It is managed through Omada SDN (cloud, hardware or software controller and the Omada app) or standalone, with static routing, DHCP server, VLAN, ACL, 802.1X and QoS.

SG2206MP overview

The SG2206MP (ARC IP code TL-SG2206MP) is TP-Link's Omada Access 6-Port Gigabit Switch with 4-Port PoE+, hardware version V1. It is the smallest mains-powered Omada smart PoE switch in this group: four 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE+ RJ45 ports, one 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 port and one gigabit SFP slot. The PoE+ ports are 802.3at/af compliant and share a 63 W budget, and TP-Link lists Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE. Power comes from a 53.5 V DC / 1.31 A adapter.

Management is where it differs from a basic PoE switch. Centralised management is supported through the Omada Cloud-Based Controller (built-in version 5.15.22 or later), Omada Hardware Controller and Omada Software Controller (5.15.20 or later), with cloud access and the Omada app, and zero-touch provisioning when used with the Cloud-Based Controller. Controller-based advanced features include automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal event warnings, unified configuration and reboot schedules. Standalone, it can be managed by web GUI, CLI through telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and RMON.

The L2+ feature set includes 16 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces and 32 static routes, DHCP server, DHCP relay and DHCP L2 relay, static and proxy ARP, link aggregation, spanning tree, loopback detection and mirroring. VLAN support covers 4K VLAN groups, 802.1Q tag VLAN, MAC VLAN (16 entries), protocol VLAN, GVRP and voice VLAN. Security includes up to 230 ACL entries, 802.1X and MAB, IP-MAC-port binding, DHCP snooping, ARP inspection and IP source guard. QoS offers 802.1p CoS/DSCP priority with eight queues, SP and WRR scheduling, bandwidth control and storm control, and IGMP snooping with MVR handles multicast.

Performance figures are 12 Gbps switching capacity, an 8.93 Mpps forwarding rate, an 8K MAC table, a 4.1 Mbit buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames. The SG2206MP measures 158 x 100.7 x 25.4 mm and is specified for desktop or wall mounting, with a physical security lock. Maximum power consumption is 73.7 W (110 V/60 Hz) with 63 W of powered devices connected. Operating temperature is -5 to 40 °C. In the box: the switch, power adapter, power cord, rackmount kit, rubber feet and installation guide.
