The TP-Link SG2005P-PD is an Omada 5-port gigabit smart switch powered entirely over PoE. One 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 PoE In port (802.3af/at/bt) feeds four 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE Out ports (802.3af/at). Output budget depends on the source: 64 W from 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W), 44 W from Type 3 (60 W), 19 W from 802.3at and 6 W from 802.3af, with Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE. It supports Omada SDN, static routing, DHCP server, VLAN, ACL, 802.1X and QoS, has ±6 kV surge protection, -40 to 60 °C operation, and wall or pole mounting.

The TP-Link SG2005P-PD is an Omada Access 5-port gigabit smart switch that is itself powered by PoE. Port 5 is a PoE In port accepting 802.3af/at/bt, and ports 1 to 4 are 802.3af/at PoE Out ports, with an output budget of up to 64 W when fed by an 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) source. It supports Omada SDN cloud management, static routing, VLAN, ACL and QoS, is rated -40 to 60 °C, and comes with wall and pole mounting hardware.

SG2005P-PD overview

The SG2005P-PD (listed by ARC IP as TL-SG2005P-PD) is TP-Link's Omada Access 5-Port Gigabit Switch with 1-Port PoE++ In and 4-Port PoE+ Out, current AU hardware version V2. It has no mains power supply at all: it obtains power from an 802.3af/at/bt PoE source on port 5, the PoE In port, and passes power on to devices connected to ports 1 to 4, which are 802.3af/at PoE Out ports. All five RJ45 ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps. That means a single cable from a PoE++ switch or injector can provide both the uplink and the power for up to four further PoE devices at the far end of the run.

How much power is available downstream depends on what feeds it. TP-Link lists a PoE Out budget of 64 W when powered by 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W), 44 W when powered by 802.3bt Type 3 (60 W), 19 W when powered by 802.3at and 6 W when powered by 802.3af. Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE are both supported. Maximum power consumption is 71.05 W and heat dissipation 241.57 BTU/hr, both when powered by an 802.3bt Type 4 (90 W) source. Surge protection is rated at ±6 kV.

The switch is built for difficult locations. It is fanless, measures 103.0 x 41.6 x 186.2 mm, and is rated for operation from -40 to 60 °C with 10 to 90% RH non-condensing humidity. The box includes a wall mount bracket, a pole mount strap, wall anchors and screws along with the installation guide, so it can be fixed to a wall or a pole close to the devices it powers.

Despite its size it is a full Omada smart switch. It can be managed centrally through the Omada Cloud-Based Controller (built-in version 5.15.22 or later), Omada Hardware Controller or Omada Software Controller (5.15.20 or later), with cloud access and the Omada app, and zero-touch provisioning with the Cloud-Based Controller. Standalone management is via web GUI, CLI through telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and RMON. Features include 32 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces and 32 static routes, DHCP server and relay, 802.3ad LACP, spanning tree, 4K VLAN groups with voice VLAN, up to 230 ACL entries, 802.1X, DHCP snooping and IP source guard, IGMP and MLD snooping, and 802.1p/DSCP QoS with eight queues. Performance is 10 Gbps switching, 7.44 Mpps forwarding, an 8K MAC table, a 4.1 Mbit buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames.
