The TP-Link Tapo L510E is a dimmable smart Wi-Fi light bulb with an E27 Edison screw base. This A60 bulb delivers 806 lumens at a colour temperature of 2700 K, rated as equivalent to a 60 W incandescent lamp, and draws no more than 8.3 W. It joins your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without a hub and is controlled through the Tapo app, with presets, schedules, Away Mode and voice commands through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

Tapo L510E overview

TP-Link's Tapo L510E brings app and voice control to light fittings with an E27 Edison screw socket. The bulb follows the A60 profile and measures 115 x 60 mm. Its colour temperature is set at 2700 K and it gives 806 lumens, which TP-Link equates to a 60 W incandescent lamp. Power use tops out at 8.3 W, standby is 0.4 W and the weighted energy consumption is listed at 9 kWh per 1000 hours, with a rated life of 25,000 hours and 15,000 switching cycles.

The L510E dims from your phone. TP-Link specifies dimming via the Tapo app and cloud only, so the level is set in software rather than with a wall dimmer. A brightness you like for movie nights can be stored as a preset and recalled later. Regular schedules switch the bulb on or off at the brightness you set, and sunrise and sunset modes trigger it automatically according to your time zone. If you get home to a dark room, you can open the Tapo app and switch the light on before you reach for the switch.

For hands-free control the L510E works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so commands like "Alexa, turn on the light" or "Hey Google, dim my bedroom lights" work once it is linked. Away Mode switches the bulb on and off at random while your family is on a trip, so the house looks occupied. The bulb connects directly to your home Wi-Fi network with no hub or extra device, it joins the wider Tapo app ecosystem alongside other Tapo devices, and setup follows step-by-step guidance in the app.

Wireless connectivity is IEEE 802.11b/g/n on the 2.4 GHz band only, with WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and WPA3-SAE encryption. The bulb is rated for 220-240 V AC at 50/60 Hz, warms up to 95% output in one second or less, spreads light over a 220 degree beam, and is listed with a colour rendering index of at least 80 and colour consistency of 6 SDCM or better. Certifications listed by TP-Link are CE, ERP, SAA and RCM, and it operates from -15 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity. A factory reset returns it to 2700 K at 100% brightness. The package holds the Tapo smart light bulb and a quick start guide.
