The TP-Link S5500-4XHPP2XF is an Omada Pro 4-port PoE++ 10GE L2+ managed switch with four 100 Mbps to 10 Gbps RJ45 ports that supply 802.3af/at/bt (type 3) PoE++ at up to 60 W per port from a 200 W budget, plus two 10G SFP+ slots. It has 120 Gbps non-blocking switching capacity, static routing, ERPS, sFlow, DDM, advanced security and QoS, RJ45 and Micro-USB console ports, and centralised cloud management through the Omada Pro controller.

S5500-4XHPP2XF overview

The S5500-4XHPP2XF is TP-Link's Omada Pro 4-port PoE++ 10GE L2+ managed switch with 2 SFP+ slots, hardware version V1. TP-Link calls it a full enterprise-level managed switch for building and expanding a lightning-fast network. Its four RJ45 ports run at 100, 1000, 2500, 5000 or 10000 Mbps, and TP-Link lists wireless access points, surveillance cameras and IP phones among the PoE devices it can power, and each port is an IEEE 802.3af/at/bt (type 3) compliant PoE++ port delivering up to 60 W. Total PoE budget is 200 W, which TP-Link notes is calculated from laboratory testing and will vary with client limitations and environmental factors. Two 10G SFP+ slots handle uplinks to the core, and the switch adds an RJ45 console port and a Micro-USB console port for out-of-band CLI access.

TP-Link states that the four 10 Gbps PoE ports and two 10 Gbps SFP+ slots provide up to 120 Gbps switching capacity with non-blocking performance and minimal latency. The forwarding rate is 89.28 Mpps, the MAC address table holds 32K entries, the packet buffer is 16 Mbit and jumbo frames reach 9 KB. The 294 x 180 x 44 mm (11.6 x 7.1 x 1.7 in) chassis can be rack mounted with the included kit or placed on a desk, has two fans and a physical security lock slot, and runs from an internal 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz supply. Maximum consumption is 244.90 W and maximum heat dissipation 835.67 BTU/h at 110 V / 60 Hz with 200 W of powered devices connected. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C.

Layer 3 features include 128 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces, 48 static routes, 128 static ARP entries and 512 ARP entries, proxy and gratuitous ARP, DHCP server, DHCP interface and VLAN relay and DHCP L2 relay. At Layer 2 it supports static and LACP link aggregation (8 groups of up to 8 ports), STP, RSTP and MSTP with TC, BPDU, root and loop protection, port- and VLAN-based loopback detection, 802.3x flow control, HOL blocking prevention and port and CPU mirroring. Multicast covers 1,000 IPv4/IPv6 IGMP groups, IGMP snooping and authentication, MVR, MLD snooping and multicast filtering with 256 profiles. VLAN features include 4K VLAN groups, 802.1Q, MAC VLAN (30 entries), protocol VLAN, private VLAN, GVRP, voice VLAN and VLAN VPN with VLAN mapping and replace.

Service-provider features listed by TP-Link are L2PT, DLDP, PPPoE ID insertion, ERPS, 802.3ah Ethernet Link OAM, sFlow and DDM for SFP+ optics. Security covers IP-MAC-Port binding and IPv6-MAC-Port binding (512 entries each), DHCP and DHCPv6 snooping, ARP inspection, ND detection and snooping, IPv4 and IPv6 source guard (100 entries each), DoS defend, DHCP filter, port security with up to 64 MAC addresses per port, storm control and 802.1X. QoS provides 8 priority queues, 802.1p CoS and DSCP, SP, WRR and SP+WRR scheduling, port and flow-based rate limiting and 802.1p/DSCP remarking.

Management includes the web GUI, CLI via console or Telnet, SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with RMON, LLDP/LLDP-MED, DHCP AutoInstall, dual image and configuration, cable diagnostics, EEE, password recovery and remote packet capture. Integrated into Omada Pro, it is managed by the Omada Pro cloud-based or software controller, with cloud access, the Omada app, Intelligent Anomaly Detection, automatic device discovery, batch configuration and firmware upgrades, intelligent network monitoring and abnormal event warnings; Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Omada Pro cloud-based controller. TP-Link also offers the SX3206HPP, a standard Omada switch with the same four 10G PoE++ ports, two SFP+ slots and 200 W budget, for networks run on a standard Omada controller instead of Omada Pro. In the box are the switch, a power cord, a quick installation guide, a rackmount kit and rubber feet.
